Review of Civil Engineering Department at NIT Rourkela.
Placements: About 90% Students were placed in civil engineering. The highest package was 20 LPA, and the lowest package was 6,00,000 per annum. Average package was about 10,00,000 per annum. Top recruiting companies are Tata Projects, BPCL, TCS, and Larsen and Toubro. About 50% students secured intensive. And mostly got an internship at Tata. Some of the top roles offered are site engineer, project manager, etc.
Infrastructure: There are advanced, well-equipped labs for all major civil engineering disciplines. The classrooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and have smart boards. The Central Library has a large collection of civil engineering books and access to journals and digital resources. There are double occupancy rooms available. Mess food is average. Colleges 24 into seven ambulance service. And a well-equipped campus health center.
Faculty: Most civil engineering faculty members are highly qualified. Some have done their Ph.D. at IITs or at International Universities. Faculty members are helpful and knowledgeable. The course is not relevant, and new specialities are not included, hence a lack in industry demands. The semester exams are moderate, and almost all the students pass.

Lush green campus, awesome fests and average placements.
Placements: Almost 100% were placed. The highest was almost 15-18 LPA and the lowest was 4 LPA. Tata and other famous companies were the top recruiters. Almost 50% got internships. Many roles were engineering positions. The placement was pretty decent, better than private colleges and also better than many other NITs.
Infrastructure: There was Wi-Fi available in the hostel, and ACs in classrooms and libraries were also equipped with Wi-Fi. The hostel provides good facilities and cleanliness, along with good sports facilities. In the hostel, there are facilities for table tennis, badminton, volleyball, and football.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful, but a few I don’t prefer. The course curriculum was relevant from the perspective of civil engineering. Semester exams were pretty conceptual; 4-5 students out of 80-90 failed. Some of the teachers seem to be least interested in teaching, while some are awesome.
Other: I chose this course due to its vast application in the government sector. I think it should be more AI-based. Fests are one of the best things about my college.

College is good and also all facilities are available with good campus size.
Placements: Mostly 90% of students got placed with average CTC of 10 LPA in my branch. The highest salary is 20 LPA, and the lowest is 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Google, Microsoft, BPCL, Accenture, TCS, Texas, and many more. Many students got internships in companies like Texas Instruments, TVS, and Godrej for civil core with 50%. Top roles are management and consulting.
Infrastructure: Facilities are good and infrastructure is outstanding with Wi-Fi in hostel and library. Classroom has smart boards and all. Library has many books. Food quality is medium, and canteen is available all over. We have a dispensary with free treatment and all. Sports and games facilities are also available.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are helpful and well-qualified. Teaching quality is medium. Course structure is according to the branch and students are present. It makes students industry-ready. Semester examinations are the most difficult, and pass percentage is 99%.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in it. Best thing is the site visit. Better it has its own department building.

NIT Rourkela reviews about campus, faculty, and future goals.
Placements: Currently, I am in the 3rd year, and my department is Civil Engineering. To be honest, in Civil, high placements are relatively rare, and many students are focusing on coding. Last year, the highest package in Civil was 15.6 LPA, and the lowest package was around 4.3 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our classes are really good. The classrooms have digital boards and are AC. The department is also excellent. Our hostel rooms are quite nice, with two students sharing one room. The mess is very close to the hostel, and the hostel food is also very good.
Faculty: Professors at our NIT are highly qualified. Almost all of them have cleared IIT-level exams. They explain any questions very clearly. The courses offered by our department are helpful and extremely useful for our future jobs. Each semester lasts for 6 months. Every semester includes two main exams. They are mid and end-semester, which are quite tough to pass. The passing mark is 35 out of 100.
Other: In the future, I want to work in a government job, which is why I choose civil engineering. I will try for the UPSC exam.

I am feeling fully proud of choosing this college for my career.
Placements: I am a third-year student of the civil department, as according to the college, there are 100% placements, but this is not true because they only show students' data who want to get placed. Some students went on to higher studies. In civil, very low students apply for placements. In the end, placements are good. The highest package offered in the ECE is 1.08 crores per annum, and the lowest package is 4 LPA. But in the civil, the lowest package is 4 LPA. The highest package is 14 LPA. Top companies for our course are Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Apple, and all MAANG.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi connectivity is good, but a small issue as they do not provide an outlet, and we have to arrange it. It only gives external Ethernet slots. Labs and classrooms are very good. All classrooms have a digital board and a camera. But there is no Wi-Fi in classrooms. In the hostel, everything is okay. Food quality is very good. All types of facilities are available.
Faculty: Faculty members are good at exams. They do not want to cheat students. But some of them are very good. They behave very rudely. Exam toughness is moderate, and most of questions come from PYQs with the same patterns. The course curriculum is not relevant to some topics. We have read German in my 2nd semester. In every semester, there is a subject that is not needed for us.

The percentage/marks that a university or a college needs to enrol students till a certain score could be defined as cut-off marks. Different colleges have different cut-offs like SRCC had 98% last year.
