Candidates seeking admission to BSc at Panjab University are required to meet the eligibility criteria. Candidates must have passed the Class 12 examination with at least 40% aggregate in the qualifying exam and passing marks in English.

Student must have out of the three elective subjects offered by him/ her (excepting Anthropology) passed at least two Science subjects. Provided that a student shall be eligible to opt the subject of:

• CS, if he/ she has passed Class 12 with Physics, Commerce/ Economics/ Mathematics and Computer-related subjects such as CS/ IT etc. as one of the elective or optional subjects.
• Biochemistry, if he/ she has passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology
• A student may opt for CS in BSc (Non-Medical) as one of the elective subjects with the combination of Mathematics, Physics, CS.

 Panjab University BSc admission is entrance-based. The applicants only have to pass Class 12 with relevant subjects to be eligibile for admission. The final selection is based on the entrance exam score. Hence, candidates scoring less than 50% in Class 12 are eligible to apply for the course. But, they will have to clear the qualifying exam cut-off. In case someone fails to secure a seat at Panjab University for BSc, they can still pursue BSc at other colleges/universities offering the course.  For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Students must go through the Panjab University CHD-conducted/ national-level entrances and then appear for the university-level selection rounds for final admission at Panjab University.

The highest package offered to the Engineering batch 2025 was INR 24 LPA. On the other hand, the highest salary offered to the MBA students during Punjab University placements 2025 was also INR 24 LPA.

Candidates who have either passed Class 12 examination or BCom Part- I (old scheme) of Panjab University with at least 45% aggregate or who have passed the Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate or any other equivalent examination are eligible to apply for BCom admission at Panjab University. Hence, a candidate scoring less than 50% in Class 12 is not eligible to apply for BCom at Panjab University. Such candidates can go for other universities and colleges offering a BCom.
