IIIT Delhi: Courses, Admission 2026, Fees, Placements, Ranking, Cutoff

As per the NIRF 2024 ranking under the “Engineering” category, IIIT Delhi ranks 85 among the top Engineering institutes of the country. The total fee for MTech in IIIT Delhi ranges between INR 3.7 lakh and INR 6 lakh. NIT Trichy MTech fee is INR 1.4 lakh. As per placement statistics, the median package is recorded to be INR 18.17 LPA for IIITD and INR 7 LPA for NIT Trichy. Hence, it can be concluded that the fee is higher at IIITD. It must be noted that the fee given for both institutes is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative. But, this institute also has got a good ranking as per a recognised ranking body. Thus, if given a choice, IIIT Delhi is a better option than NIT Trichy.

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply by visiting IIIT Delhi official website. Admission to the MTech CSE, ECE, and CB is based on GATE score. For CB course, selected candidates have to go through an online interview round as well. Moreover, for the MTech CB DBT seats, aspirants are selected based on GAT-B exam scores followed by an interview round. Additionally, for MTech (Research) course admission, PGCAT-IIIT Delhi exam score is accepted following which candidates have to go through an offline interview round. For some of the seats, aspirants are selected on merit-basis.

DTU ranks 29 and IIIT Delhi ranks 85 as per the NIRF ranking 2024 under the “Engineering” category. The total tuition fee for BTech is INR 3 lakh – INR 6.4 lakh at DTU and INR 18 lakh at IIIT Delhi. The highest domestic and international package offered during IIIT Delhi BTech placements 2024 stood at INR 49 LPA and INR 109 LPA, respectively. Additionally, in DTU, the highest package offered in 2022 was INR 64.23 lakh. Considering the mentioned data, DTU is definitely a better choice for BTech course aspirants.

The cutoff trend for BTech at IIIT Delhi has been decreasing in the recent years. In 2024, the closing rank for BTech under general category for all India quota was 10559. In 2023, it improved to 8670. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

The cutoff is released for every counselling round. Yes, admission to the IIIT Delhi, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology is possible through JEE Mains as the only entrance exam. Though IIITD also requires students to go through JAC Counselling process as well.

Further candidates must also complete the course eligibility of passing Class 12 with minimum 70% scores.

The BTech course at IIIT Delhi is offered to candidates on the basis of their JEE Mains scores. It is not possible to get admission to IIIT Delhi without appearing for the entrance exam as it is an essential part of the selection process. Candidates must also have a minimum of 75% aggregate in their Class 12 to be eligible for the four-year BTech course at IIIT Delhi. 

The technology institute admits candidates to PhD courseson merit and respective entrance exam scores. The accepted entrance exams are GATE/ UGC NET/CSIR NET. Candidates shortlisted based on exam scores are then invited for the interview round for final selections. Moreover, for some of the PhD courses, candidates are selected based on performance in the last qualifying examination. NTA announced JEE Main 2024 dates. NTA coducted the JEE Main 2024 exam in two sessions. JEE Main 2024 exam date session 1 was January 24 to February 1 while the second session was held from April 4 to 15. In 2024, the cutoff ranks for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering with a cutoff rank of 6695, followed by B.Tech. in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence with 7865. On the contrary, B.Tech. in Electronics and VLSI Engineering had a closing cutoff of 11064, making it the least desirable course among the students. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. Additionally, the cutoff rank also varies if the applicant is a female.

Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For the General category under All India, opening rank was 4554 and closing rank was 4659 in 2023. The cutoff in 2024 for the all-India quota ranged from 6695 to 9975. Cut off are differant when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. Admission to BTech in Computer Science and Biosciences in IIIT Delhi is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam JEE.
