SET Exam Eligibility Criteria 2027: Check Age Limit, Qualification, Number of Attempts

Candidates who have completed their Class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognised board with at least 50 per cent aggregate are eligible to apply for SET exam. There is no age limit to appear for the exam. Candidates in the Class 12 or are awaiting the Class 12 results can also apply provisionally and present the marksheet at the time of admission. The candidate who has completed class 12 or equivalent from a foreign board and must have obtained an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is eligible.

No, IIMs do not accept SET test scores for admission. Iims conduct Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission to MBA programmes. Iims such as IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak, which offer integrated management programmes, accept IPMAT scores conducted by them. SET cut-offs will be announced after the declaration of the result. The SET scores are accepted by the ten prestigious colleges of the Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and each individual institute releases their own cutoff after the results are announced. SET results are usually announced in the last week of May, for the both the sessions and other courses. Students can check the same on the official websites of the institutes. The students who match the cutoff criteria will be called for further selection process which includes Group Discussions and Personal Interview . Some institutes also conduct Written Ability Test as a part of the selection process.

Each participating institute released its own SET cutoff. The SET cutoff determined if the candidate will be eligible to appear for the SET selection process which includes Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interviews. The following are the various factors that determined the SET cutoff:

1. Marking scheme of the exam
2. The difficult level of the exam
3. Number of students appearing for the exam
4. Seats offered by the participating institutes
5. Previous years' cutoff trends
6. Reservation policy of institutes
7. The lowest and average marks scored by the candidates in the exam.

SET cutoff is released by the participating institutes after the announcement of the SET result. The ten prestigious Symbiosis Institutes accept SET scores. SET scores are accepted for various undergraduate programmes offered by these institutes. The SET cut-off is different for all institutes and courses. These cutoffs will be available on the official website of each participating college or institute. Candidates who have appeared for the SET exam must meet the cutoff of their preferred institute in order to gain admission to that particular institute.

According to the previous cutoff trends, the SET cutoff generally range from 85-89 for the General category. Last year, the highest SET cutoff was 89 for the General category. Shortlisted candidates who match the cutoff will be called for further selection procedure, which includes, Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Candidates can choose upto three SET test cities according to their preference. Candidates must very carefully select the cities as once the SET application form is submitted, they can't change city preference. They should choose the first city of preference as their hometome or where they are residing as the exam authorities will likely allot the test centres to candidates in their first city of preference. Candidates are allotted a test centre in second or third preference only if the seats have been filled or the exam centre has been cancelled at that location. Candidates should know that the SET test cities cannot be changed once the form is submitted even during the form correction window.
