The hostel has all the facilities.
Placements: The strongest point about AMRITA VLSI department is job opportunities. There are plenty of companies that visited are interested in taking VLSI students even in core computer Science fields. The package for VLSI was 10L in the year 2013. Even few of the student could secure jobs (in computer Science) which are way above than this figure.
Infrastructure: Students should stay in hostels and the rooms are good enough but not great with facilities. Rooms don't have AC. The weather is usually cool so the AC is not needed. The rooms are just good but not very good. The students can be comfortable if they get used to rooms every day, and the weather condition is good. Two fans and two light and shelves are provided. Four students in each room and enough to space live. The food on this campus is pure veg and non-veg is prohibited. The mess quality is not much good here, the students from Tamil Nadu will like the food but other state students should adjust, other state students can adjust not too much bad. The students should adjust for food. Some days the food will be served well on occasion days. Hostel Joining Registration forms will be given to the students in their respective hostels or forms will be provided in online.
Faculty: VLSI DESIGN course constitutes 4 semesters 1st sem: basic and advanced digital circuits, physical design theory, semiconductor theory, analog design, engineering mathematics, and English . VLSI lab 1 includes Verilog basics and simulation. 2nd sem: advanced analog circuits, Static timing analysis, low power Circuits, Reconfigurable circuits/ FPGA basics, advanced digital circuits. VLSI lab 2 advanced verification using Verilog. 3rd sem: Mini project Technical seminar 2 electives Choice 1: DFT or functional verification. Choice 2: static memories or testing methodologies. 4th sem: Major project.
