This college gives an enormous amount of opportunities.

Placements: Last year, 65% of students from my branch got placed. The highest package was 52 LPA, the lowest was 7.2 LPA, and the average package was 20 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. 60% of students got internships from my course. Roles offered were SDE roles, product management roles, and research roles.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure for the lecture hall, lab, and hostel rooms is quite good. Hostels have double occupancy for first and second-year students and single occupancy for third and fourth-year students. The lecture hall and lab are fully Wi-Fi connected. We have two types of library: one in central and the other one in the hostel.

Faculty: Teaching is quite helpful, but an old curriculum is followed. Professors are highly qualified and have studied and taught in various different institutes around the world. There are various types of professors. A few professors are very chill, and a few are very strict.

Other: One will get connected to the top brains of the country.

The most beautiful campus.

Placements: About 70% were placed, the highest was around 50 LPA, and the average was around 20 LPA. The top core recruiting company was Texas Instruments, whereas many people went for finance companies. A few students got internships from my course ( mostly quant). Many students opted for higher studies.

Infrastructure: The classroom complex is great, but the quality of food in the mess is not good; there is more masala in the buttermilk than in the food. There is a hospital inside the campus, and another one is being built. There are 2 big sports complexes on the campus and many sports clubs.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They are always ready to help (except for a few rude ones). The curriculum is relevant. The exams are tough, especially in mathematics. Many people failed in that subject (especially people from lower branches such as Biosciences).

Other: I chose the course because I was interested in studying Physics. Fests are great, and the surrounding areas are also very beautiful.

Engineering Physics is good only for research.

Placements: Around 60% of students in the B.Tech in EP are placed, which is less. Because most of the students do not sit for placements as they are more enthusiastic towards research or higher studies. Companies like Goldman Sachs, Texas Instruments, Walmart, Zomato, and Microsoft recruit students. Students can change their field irrespective of their department to different roles like SDE, finance, quant, consulting, or product management. The highest salary package offered is 39 LPA. The median salary package offered is 22 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 12 LPA. Out of a batch of 60, only 8-10 students secured internships. A lot of others (10-15) got research internships, which I would count out.

Infrastructure: We have great and advanced electrical labs in Physics department and other labs are also well-equipped. Technicians are also very smart and helpful. The whole academic block, hostel rooms, and other common areas are equipped with free Wi-Fi that has a decent speed. Only the core 5 classroom complex and lecture halls are air-conditioned, and some classes are in other scores. Most of our classes will be in Core 5, which means mostly great classes. Every hostel has its own library, and we also have a great central library with air-conditioning. It has a great number of books and a lot of seating space. Hostel rooms are double-occupancy for 1st and 2nd-year students. Food in the mess is not great. Still, they serve a lot of options. We can always call for an ambulance from any security desk. Hospital is also good and provides free medicine with no charges. All hostels have a gym and a sports room. Overall, a gym is efficient and well-maintained. Sports facilities are great if we know how to use them.

Faculty: No doubt, IIT Guwahati has one of the best faculty members in India. Teaching quality is not very bad. Some professors are good and some are very bad at teaching. The EP course is far irrelevant for any industry but it is good if we are interested in research. Semester exams are difficult in the Physics department as professors here are not very supportive.

Other: I chose this course because I have an affection for Physics, and the best part is that it provides enough opportunities. There are a lot of fests organized on campus. We have all types of crowds as street-smart, bookworms, etc. Campus is pretty much out of Guwahati city like it is on the other side of the city. We can even take a ferry to reach there.

IIT Guwahati- College review.

Placements: Approximately 70% got placed and some students went on to higher studies. The highest package will be around 45–50 LPA, the lowest around 13–15 LPA and the average will be around 29 LPA. Top companies like "Maang" came for on-campus placements. And company placement criteria differ from company to company.

Infrastructure: All the infrastructure facilities provided are quite good. On the majority of the campus, you will get Wi-Fi connectivity. Labs are equipped with good equipment. All hostels have library facilities, and a central library facility for the whole campus is available. Mess food is good and it depends from hostel to hostel. But the canteen is good. And you have access to all the sports facilities.

Faculty: All the faculty members are good and well-qualified. And they always respond to the query. And we have different exams throughout the semester, like quizzes, midterms, end terms, and final grading, which consists of all the marks. The difficulty level depends on the course instructor and the course.

Other: I get this course and college based on my rank in JEE Advance through JSA Counseling. There are technical fests ( Techniche ), sports fests (Spirit), and cultural fests (Alcheringa) in a year and some other fests like udgam, prayatna, and virasat are also held and conducted by student bodies. And so many engaging events like the scavenger hunt and other events happen in a year.

NIRF ranking is 7th and in research it is 2nd in India.

Placements: Around 80% of students got placed. The highest package offered was INR 50 LPA and the lowest package was INR 12 LPA. The average package was INR 18 LPA. The top role is of a software developer. Around 40% of the students got internships on campus and 20% off campus. Overall placement here is the best.

Infrastructure: Every classroom has Wi-Fi and is fully air conditioned. The labs are very good. They have a world-class library. Good medical facilities are also available. The food quality of the mess is average but breakfast is the best. Every hostel is well-equipped with basic facilities.

Faculty: Teachers are friendly, professors are strict and the evaluation process is transparent. Overall teaching quality is good. Exams are a little bit difficult. The course is relevant to the industry and is also relevant for research. Professors are helpful regarding the research.

Faculty are great, but not as good as top 5 IITs, and the campus and weather are amazing.

Placements: 64% of students got placed with an average salary package of 17 LPA. Pre-covid, the placement percentages were 83% and 90%. Mostly, the roles offered were SDE and data analyst profiles. A few students were placed in miscellaneous roles like management, product management, growth engineer etc. Students got industrial internships mainly with SDE and data analysis profiles. Academic internships were also provided in various national and foreign universities.

Infrastructure: Excellent classrooms are available. There are good quality hostels with single rooms for all. Cleanliness is maintained. Bathrooms, washrooms, water filters, washing machines, dustbins, music room, TV room, table tennis room, canteens, and juice center are all available with easy access. High-speed and unlimited Wi-Fi is available in hostel rooms and other places like a library and nearby areas. The college has a spacious and comfortable library. Mess food is of good quality. Canteens have a sufficient variety of snacks at decent prices. The campus has a free IITG hospital (including medication) for most health-related issues. Decent sports and indoor games are facilities. The weather here is very pleasant.

Faculty: Most of the teachers are qualified and knowledgeable. Some teachers make learning more interesting, while for others, you need to develop interest by yourself and put some extra effort from your side. The curriculum is very recently upgraded and is quite relevant. The pass percentage is high for most courses. Few courses are difficult, so if you are too careless, you may flunk. Your seniors will warn you about them in advance, so it won't be a surprise.

Other: This course helps you build a good foundation in Physics and application aspects of it. You may do Masters in relevant areas after UG. The 700-acre campus is vibrant with lakes, hills and natural beauty all around. There are minimal restrictions. The crowd is amazing. Scholarships are available on economic basis, <5 lakhs and <1 lakh annual income brackets, and caste basis (for SC and ST students). The Guwahati City is located on the other side of Brahmaputra, and the airport is around 22 km from campus. The campus bus goes to and fro from the campus to the city regularly. But we quite miss the city life. Guwahati has an international airport. Sufficient cultural, technical, sports and social clubs for extracurricular activities are present.

There were excellent placements in 2020, excellent campus life and average mess food.

Placements: About 63.63% of students from engineering physics got placed, i.e., about 14 students out of 22 students got placed. The highest salary package offered was 30 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 7 LPA. The average salary package offered was around 13 LPA. Top recruiting companies which hired students from engineering physics include Amazon, Walmart, Paytm, WikiKey, ICICI Bank, etc. Top roles offered include software developer, business analyst, management trainee, etc.

Infrastructure: In our physics department, there are all the necessary top-notch facilities required for success in the research field. Labs are well-equipped with top of the trade equipment. Classrooms are air-conditioned. Wi-Fi is available, and the speed is very high. The department library has all the books and journals from all domains in physics. Hostel facilities are good as well. The canteen, stationery store, reading room and sports room are available in every hostel. The food served in the mess is very good in some hostels but average in some hostels. Live counter service (paid) is available in the mess. If you don't like any food items, you can utilise the live counter of the mess.

Faculty: Teachers here are very well qualified and knowledgeable. They all completed their PhDs from very renowned institutes of the world. So, their teaching quality is top-notch. But the quality of research provided is even better. The course curriculum was very focused on preparing students for higher education in physics. Engineering physics is a very research-oriented branch. So, students have to prepare on their own if they want to join the industry.

Other: Fests organised here are amazing. Campus life is excellent here. Many scholarship opportunities can be availed if you perform exceptionally well in your academics. It is the best campus, and the sports community is very active as well. The most important thing is you get to meet the country's most intellectual students.

It is one of the most premiere institutes in India.

Placements: 26 out of 29 students got placed with an average package of 16 LPA. Other students went for further studies in various colleges across the world. Roles offered are data analyst, data scientist, SDE, product manager, quant role, sales manager, marketing executive and some non-tech roles. The top recruiting companies include Facebook, Google, Amazon, JPMC, Quadeye and many others.

Infrastructure: The college has AC classrooms. Wi-Fi is easily available almost everywhere on the campus of 750 acres. LAN ports are available in every hostel room. Single-occupancy rooms are available for boys, and the girls' hostel allots 2 girls per 1 room. Separate canteen, games room, music room, pantry and mess are available in all 12 hostels. A well-working hospital is available for IITG people. At least one ground or court for all famous sports is available. The quality of mess food can be rated 7.5 out of 10.

Faculty: Most of the professors are well qualified and helpful. Their teaching quality can be rated 8.5 out of 10. The curriculum is very proper for all students interested in the core field. Students going for non-core may dislike the course curriculum. Howsoever the course curriculum is, it makes us ready for almost every possible job by providing the required skills.

Other: I had only two options, either chemical engineering or engineering physics. I chose EP, and I don't have any regrets despite the fact that the curriculum of EP is tougher than CE. Techniche is the technical fest held here. People come from all over India. Alcheringa is the biggest north-east cultural fest. Spirit is the sports fest, and I enjoyed all the fests here. Inter hostel cultural, technical and sports events are conducted. The college is 18 km away from the city. It is one of the largest and beautiful campuses. One side of the campus has Bramhaputra river, and there is another view-point inside the campus.
