IIT Kharagpur's Vinod Gupta School of Management offers a two-year MBA degree in seven specializations and one micro specialisation. The Vinod Gupta School of Management's (VGSOM) flagship MBA curriculum is a residential programme for recent engineering graduates and those who have earned master's degrees in Science, the field of economics or commerce. The MBA programme has developed into one of the best in the nation, fusing the IITs' strengths in technical education with contemporary management philosophy. IIT Kharagpur offers a four-year BSc course along with a five-year Integrated MSc course across six specialisations each. The Science and the HSS Department of IIT Kharagpur started four-year BSc programme admission to which is subject to a valid rank in JEE Advanced exam.  Aspirants seeking IIT Kharagpur BSc and Integrated MSc admission need to qualify for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams to get shortlisted. For eligibility, candidates are required to have completed their Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate. Those who would like to earn an MSc degree are given the option to do so at the end of the sixth semester of the BSc programme. Accordingly, the seventh and eighth semesters are planned so that a candidate gets an MSc degree at the end of the tenth semester.

IIT Kharagpur cutoff 2024 for MBA course is based on CAT scores. The institute offers admission through VGSOM. Tabulated below are the CAT scores for candidates seeking admission to the MBA course offered at IIT Kharagpur for last few years for the General category All India candidates:

No, if you do not belong to the reserved categories. For this category, students should have scored at least 60% marks in class 12.

For the unreserved categories, it is 75% minimum marks for admission to the IITs, IIITs, NITs and GFTIs. Students should only apply for the JoSAA counselling process if they fulfil the eligibility criteria. 

For admission to MBA at VGSOM (IIT Kharagpur), candidates need to qualify CAT followed by WAT and personal interview round. The minimum CAT percentile required is 90 for general category students. For NC-OBC and SC/ ST/ PwD the minimum CAT percentile required is 80 and 75 respectively.

To be eligible for admission to MBA at VGSOM, candidates must have the following:

• A bachelor’s degree of minimum 4-year duration in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, Medicine, or similar streams

Selection of candidates for admission to MBA at VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur is a two-step process. The applicants are shortlisted based on eligibility criteria and called for an online Personal Interview (PI). Final admission to MBA is offered on the basis of a cumulative score of the Application Rating (AR), performance score in CAT, and the candidate’s performance in the online PI round. Both IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay are among the top institutes to pursue a B.Tech. In computer Science and engineering. Here is a small comparison: 1. Raking: The IIT Bombay has been ranked 3rd by NIRF, whereas the IIT Kharagpur has been ranked 5th in the 2022 rankings. 2. Fees: The course fee is similar at both institutions, at around Rs. 8 Lacs. 3. Infrastructure: Both colleges have decent infrastructure. The campus at IIT Bombay is better and more student-friendly than IIT Kharagpur. 4. Popularity: The CSE branch of IIT B is more popular than IIT K. It is evident in the cut-off ranks of JEE Advanced. The cutoff for IIT B was 63, which was higher than the closing rank of 283 for IIT K. 5. Placement: The placement rate at IIT-B is better than that at IIT-K. Almost 99 percent of CSE graduates were placed at IIT-B in previous batches. IIT-B had the highest placement salary package of any IIT at INR 22.7 LPA (domestic). Therefore, from a placement perspective, the student prefers IIT Bombay over IIT Kharagpur.

The cut off rank in Round 6 for BTech (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering is 3294 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Kharagpur.

Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For general category under All India, opening rank was 5395 and closing rank was 5847. Cut off are differant when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 2284 and 12359. Admission to BSc in Economics in IIT Kharagpur is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam JEE Advanced. Yes, IIT Kharagpur does accept GATE scores for admission to its M.Tech programme. Applicants must have a valid GATE score relevant to the discipline of their qualifying degree. In cases where there is no specific GATE paper available for a particular discipline, XE/XL/XH papers of the GATE examination can be considered.
