It's not a requirement to live in the IIT BHU hostel. When enrolled in IIT B HU, you have the option to select different housing arrangements like other hostels, rooms, or PG accommodations based on personal preferences. Although the hostel has good amenities and there are a total of 16 hostel with beautiful gardens.

The overall highest and average package recorded during IIT BHU placements 2026 was INR 167 LPA and INR 29 LPA. A total of 1,228 offers were made and 292 PPOs were made during the placement drive 2026.

GATE Qualifying Cutoff: It is minimum mark a candidate must score so that he or she is eligible for admission. But this does not mean that a candidate is selected for admission. Actually, it is fixed before announcement of GATE results. It is announced by conducting IIT and available on GOAPS. It includes qualifying marks for each paper.

Admission GATE Cutoffs: It is final opening and closing rank score fixed by participating institutes for selection of candidates. It is to be noted here that meeting admission GATE cutoff does not mean that candidates will be selected for admission. It is fixed after GATE result date. It is declared by individual participating institutes and available on their respective counselling portals (CCMT/ COAP).

IIT BHU offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level courses in the fields of Engineering & Technology, Science, Architecture, and Pharmacy. Candidates need to fulfill the eligibility criteria to be able to apply for the IIT Varanasi courses. IIT BHU eligibility varies from course to course. At the UG level, the college offers BTech and other courses to students. At the PG level, the college offers MPharma, and other courses to students.

According to the IIT BHU cutoff 2023, the closing ranks were  3358 and 3534, for the General AI category as per the first and last rounds.  BTech in  Electrical Engineering admission at IIT BHU is done through the JEE Advanced rank, followed by the JoSSA counselling process. As part of the admission procedure, the prospective candidates must also take a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). However, BTech qualified in IITs with an overall CGPA of 8.00 or above in 10 point scale are exempted with regard to the GATE and are directly eligible to the process. It is also worth mentioning that the minimum eligibility requirements are as well mandatory to the candidates who would like to join IIT BHU MTech programme in 2025.

IIT BHU is spread over 1300-acre of area with all the necessary amenities with amazing campus life. Candidates who have BE/BTech/MSc or equivalent with (a) CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/EWS.
