B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2026
3.8
I have to say about placements that NIT Delhi has a good record and average salary is 12.5 LPA.
Placements: We are the first batch in NIT Delhi in the department of mechanical engineering. We will pass out in 2026 as a student of first batch in mechanical branch. We don't have seniors to guide us for placements and others so we have to do our best by ourselves. We are the seniors but I have to say that our faculty members are too good here.
Infrastructure: Courses are completed at the end of the semester as we all know our college has recently shifted to the new campus at Bakoli village. So infrastructure is all new and according to the new beautiful design. All facilities are provided better than expected.
Faculty: Faculty members are too good. But the criteria for maintaining the attendance is at least 75% which I think no student wants. Most of the day scholar students are not even able to attend the lecture due to the busy traffic in Delhi on time. So it would be very difficult to attend the lecture for day scholars. Also, if they don't allow in the exam if attendance is less than 75%.
Other: The reason for choosing this branch is that I come from a rural background where I see so many physical things like automobiles, other machines, and materials. All these things motivated me to go into this field. One more thing is that my rank is also around to get into this branch for college like NIT. I want to come to Delhi to pursue my degree that's why I chose this college.

In short, I would say if you have the opportunity to get into this college, then take it.
Placements: Almost 80% of students got placed in my college. The highest package was around 56 lacs, and the average is around 8 lacs. Top recruiting companies include Wipro and TCS. Securing an internship at NIT Delhi can be challenging due to tough competition and core branches.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good, although it is still under construction. There is an admin building where all offices are located, fully centralized AC, and an open ground for football and cricket, along with a basketball court, badminton court, volleyball court, lawn tennis court, and more. There are three hostels for boys and one for girls. Hostel facilities are good enough, except for the food quality, which is below average. However, the medical facilities are very good.
Faculty: The teachers are very qualified and helpful, except for some. The teaching quality is adequate, but you can't rely solely on teachers; you have to study on your own to achieve a good CGPA. The courses are relevant, preparing us for the industry at a basic level. Semesters are on the moderate side; it is not very easy to get a good CGPA, but it is achievable if you study 2 to 3 hours daily.

In short a good, value for money, and totally fine to take admission college.
Placements: In our college, 85% of students got placement. The highest package was around 55 lpa, lowest was 6 lpa, and the average package was around 7 to 9 lpa. Top recruiting companies are Wipro, TCS, etc. Internships are difficult to achieve. Our college offers a good placement.
Infrastructure: Our hostel has Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library, sports, etc. All the facilities are available. Libraries are very useful to us for issuing books and all. We have a mess with average food quality. Sports facilities are good enough; we have many competitions, including inter-NIT sports competitions.
Faculty: Yes, teachers are so helpful, except for some strict ones. Of course they are knowledgeable, qualified, PhD holders, and researchers. Our curriculum is not so difficult but relevant. It makes students ready for industry on a basic level only. Semester exams are not difficult and easy to get a good CGPA.

Don't see NIRF and blindly come to this college.
Placements: In my mechanical engineering till now, placements didn't happen and were expected to be 50–60% placed by comparing M.Tech students. This year, 2024, the highest package is 72 LPA by an EC student, the lowest is 3.6 LPA, and the average is 10-14 LPA. The top recruiters are CISCO, SHL, Deloitte, and Amazon, etc.; approximately 40% of students get internships; the top roles are tester and developer.
Infrastructure: Rooms, labs, and Wi-Fi are too good, but mess and canteen are worst and more expensive on food. The medical facility is not so good, and games are played once a week by coaches. The food is not adjusted by South Indian people as non-veg is not provided here, and around the college it has very few non-veg restaurants.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified, but they teach us very little, and some professors don't come to college either. The curriculum is very good, and as I am also in mechanical engineering, we have C and Python in our curriculum, which is so good to go to the IT sector.

Life at National Institute of Technology Delhi.
Placements: I'm a 1st year student at NIT Delhi. My course is mechanical engineering. At my college, approximately 89% of students get placed. The highest package at my college is 87 lakhs and the average package is 20 lakhs. About 70% of students got internships at my college. Top companies like Google, Microsoft, and Samsung visit my college every year.
Infrastructure: Actually, my college is a bit new and fast developing. The infrastructure is really nice, but the campus of my college is not too big. There is wi-fi available in every classroom, library, and hostel. Facilities at hostels are very good.
Faculty: I personally like the faculty of my college because they are really helpful and hardworking. My professors are always ready to help us with their kind behavior. They appreciate us in researching new technology and working on different projects. The semester exams are not too difficult; anyone who has studied and worked hard can easily pass.
Other: My course is mechanical engineering, which is a good course. But I don't have much interest in it because I always wanted to study computer science. My rank was not so good; that's why I chose this course.

NIT Delhi is an average NIT.
Placements: The average package is around 10-15 LPA every year. Core companies come for placements, and Siemens also visited this year. PSU recruitment also occurred for the electrical branch, and civil engineering students had good internships. Some students secured internships at DRDO and ISRO. The highest package this year was 69 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hostels are bad, and the mess food is not good. The mechanical department has labs for 3D printing and CAD, but overall facilities are average. Other departments have good facilities as well. New departments and specializations are being added, and the course syllabus is optimized around your specialization.
Faculty: The curriculum is aligned with NEP, focusing on relevant topics without wasting time on unnecessary content. However, there is no branch change available. Even the same subject has different syllabi for different branches from the first semester onward. For example, mechanical engineering focuses on classical mechanics, while ECE covers quantum physics and electromagnetics.

Life at a National Institute.
Placements: My branch is new at college. Mechanical engineering had started in my college since 2022. So I'm not sure about the placement but in other branches placements are really nice. The highest package was of computer Science which was 87 Lacs and guys it's really well.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is nice but there is not a large infrastructure, because NITD is not so old it was established in 2010. It's hostels are really beautiful. In upcoming 2-3 years, it's infrastructure will be at next level surely. By the way, it is now also a great college.
Faculty: Faculty at my college are well educated and honest for their work who always help us to grow up. The JEE Main exam is an entrance exam for NIT'S admission. This is the exam you must crack for taking admission in these great colleges for your studies.
Other: I'm first year B.Tech student at NIT Delhi. I belong to Mechanical Department. I want to improve placements in my branch. I chose this course because my rank was not too good. Many events happen in my college and campus is also nice.

I am completely satisfied with this college as it is growing tremendously.
Placements: Mechanical Engineering is the new branch at the National Institute of Technology Delhi. There are 50 students in the branch. Since the first batch has not graduated yet, there is no data available about placements, but we hope they will be above average due to the location and curriculum.
Infrastructure: NIT Delhi is the new college in the Delhi region, so it is in its construction phase, but all the basic necessary facilities are available. There are 4 hostels, one for girls and three for boys. First-year students are allocated a separate hostel away from the campus, and transportation is provided by bus. Various sports activities, fests, and events are organized here at regular intervals.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified, experienced, and possess vast knowledge about their subjects. Professors interact with students and guide them in their projects. The course curriculum for Mechanical Engineering is well-designed to prepare students for the industry.
