PEC Chandigarh is a college with a history and optimism.
Placements: I have taken into account placements of the ECE branch, as placements in VLSI would be similar, if not better, than ECE. For the 2024–25 session, around 75–80% of students got placed. Top core electronics companies that visited include Tata Electronics, Texas Instruments, Micron Technology, Cadence Design Systems, and Qualcomm. Software and finance companies like American Express, PhonePe, Uber, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, and UKG also visited for core electronics, SDE, and analyst roles. The highest package for ECE was 61 LPA offered by Uber, the lowest was 3.30 LPA, and the average was 16 LPA.
Infrastructure: For VLSI, there is a Semiconductor Research Centre where chip fabrication is even done, inaugurated by the Defence Minister. There is also a 5G lab, which has been ranked among the top 100 labs in the country, so in electronics, good lab facilities are not an issue. Classrooms are old (the college was established in 1921), but the new academic block is decent. Hostels are okay for first year. Students are allocated to Shivalik hostel, where A and B blocks are very old, but C block is modern. Food is decent, and a dispensary is also available.
Faculty: Some teachers are great, while some are average. Most electronics and CSE professors are decent. For VLSI, the syllabus is relevant and industry-oriented. Mid-semester and end-semester exams are quite difficult, but one can still achieve a good CGPA without extreme stress. The academic workload is well managed.
Other: I had a rank of 24992, and this was the best option I had. PEC is a great college with a notable history and good location. I hope the infrastructure improves further as constant development is ongoing. The annual fest PECFEST is very grand. The crowd is decent and smart. The college offers almost all major sports like cricket, football, badminton, and tennis. Merit-cum-need scholarships are also available.

Good campus life, solid placements, great peer group, and overall tier-2 experience.
Placements: Around 75 percent of students from my course got placed, and the placement environment is fairly decent. The highest package from our branch touch double digits while the average stays moderate and consistent. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Byju's, ZS, and several core recruiters visited. A good number of students also secured internships in reputed firms. Roles range from software and analyst profiles to core technical positions depending on the branch.
Infrastructure: The academic infrastructure is very solid. Classrooms, labs, library, and department facilities are well maintained though classroom Wi-Fi barely works and should improve. Labs are equipped with updated systems, and the library has good digital resources. Hostels are decent with regular cleaning, proper water supply, and good security. Mess food is average but the canteen options are better. Sports grounds, gym, medical facilities, and common rooms are all available and functional.
Faculty: The faculty in my course is helpful and approachable. Most teachers are qualified and teach with good conceptual clarity making it easier to understand the subjects. The curriculum stays relevant to current industry standards with updated lab work and electives. Exams are not extremely tough but require consistent study and proper understanding of concepts. Passing is manageable even if you don't attend classes and practice regularly.
Other: Campus life is honestly one of the best parts. The crowd is diverse, friendly, and academically driven with almost no incidents of ragging. There are many clubs, sports activities, coding groups, and cultural societies to get involved in. Fests like PECFEST are the highlight of the year, filled with events, concerts, competitions, and amazing energy on campus. Connectivity to the city is good and the surroundings are safe and student-friendly.

Average faculty, not up-to-date courses, and average placements.
Placements: My branch, ECE (VLSI), is initially in the M.Tech course of PEC. In recent years, it was introduced as a B.Tech course. About the placement records, the senior-most student in B.Tech ECE (VLSI) is in the 3rd year, so no placement records due to the new branch.
Infrastructure: First-year hostels are not good. Old infrastructure and shared rooms that are not worth the high fee charged. The mess food quality is highly consistent and is considered poor, particularly in the first year. Rest 2,3, and 4 hostels are good.
Faculty: The faculty here are not motivated enough to provide help with doubts and all. But they are considered average. The first year course is definitely outdated and not up to date as other colleges or its. Exams are basically based on your memory skills. The curriculum is similar to ECE, but in a way, not that good.

Review of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
Placements: Placements are comparable to many top institutes. Placements are quite good here compared to other colleges. Almost 80% of students get placed in this college. Top recruiters include JP Morgan, Samsung, Apple, Google, etc. Come for placement opportunities. The role offered in my course is electronics engineering.
Infrastructure: Several electronics engineering laboratories are fully Wi-Fi accessible, with air conditioning. There are various hostels in PEC for boys and girls. The food is quite good, and the rooms are decent. There are sports grounds for athletics, football, and badminton. The quality of the rooms is acceptable, and the food quality and taste are good.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified from top colleges like NITs, IITs, and many foreign universities. The curriculum is relevant, apart from some outdated courses such as engineering design. It is not difficult to pass exams; students can pass by studying a week before exams.
Other: Due to my passion for electronics, I chose this course. PEC organizes PEC Fest every year, which is one of the biggest festivals in North India. There are also many other festivals, including startup fairs, summits, Trivium, etc.

East or West, PEC is the best.
Placements: Placements are comparable to many top NITs. Placements are good as compared to the rank we can get here with. Almost 80% of students get placed in this college. Top recruiting companies like JP Morgan, Samsung, Apple, Google, etc., visit the college for placements. Electronics engineer role is offered in my course.
Infrastructure: There are various electronics engineering laboratories that have full Wi-Fi and AC in them. There are various hostels in PEC for both boys and girls. The food is good and rooms are okay. There is a dispensary in the PEC market for medical purposes. There are various grounds in college like athlete, football, basketball, and cricket grounds.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified from various top colleges like NITs, IITs, and many foreign universities. The course curriculum is relevant apart from some courses only in the first year like ED and UHV. Teachers use smart classes and give tips for getting industry fit.
Other: Due to my passion for electronics, I chose this course. PEC organises PEC fest every year which is one of the biggest fests in North India. There are also many other fests organized including startup fairs, summits, trivium, etc.

East or west PEC is best.
Placements: Placements are kind of good. Many top recruiting companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Apple, Adobe, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and Qualcomm. Average package ranges from 16 LPA - 20 LPA for CSE and 10 LPA - 13 LPA for other branches. Almost 70% of students get placed.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure at the college is too old. Not all but many rooms have Wi-Fi facilities and ACs. All branches have their particular departments and labs. There are many hostels namely Shivalik and Himalaya, Kurushetra and Aravali for boys and Kalpana Chawla and Binda for girls. Quality of food is okay, not so good.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified from various premium institutes like NITs, IITs, and GFTIs. They are good at giving lectures. Students can ask doubts apart from the classes. Teachers at PEC are so lenient. Course curriculum is so old. There are many courses that are of no use but they are only for marks. There is no difficulty to pass the semester. There is a good pass percentage of 97%.
Other: As I am in field of electronics so I chose this course and heard about the scope of electronics in the future. There are many events that are organised in PEC like Pecfest which is one of the largest events in Northern region. Many other festivals like summit which is based on entrepreneurship are held every year. College also provides many scholarships to students based on categories and CGPA year wise.

East or West PEC is best.
Placements: Placement here is kind of great. Placement of our college is also far better than NITs or even some IITs. Companies like Nvidia, Micron, Apple, Samsung, etc., come to recruit students. Some seniors said that internships are difficult to get in the reputed companies, but placements are easily accessible.
Infrastructure: Hostel rooms are not good at all. Each hostel contains one volleyball court, badminton court, lawn area, TT table, and mess. Food at mess is kind of good. Each room at hostel is facilitated with Wi-Fi. There are labs in the department of all branches. Campus also contains a good library.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. Even teachers are qualified from many IITs, NITs, and foreign universities. Teachers are lenient to students. They don't pressurize about the attendance. Even course curriculum in college in the first year was based on old curriculum which does not fits with ongoing generation. We have to ask professors to give us extra insights about the courses that help us in cracking the placements.
Other: Since I heard there is a boom in the electronics industry I chose this branch. There are many events taking place in our college, for example, one of the fest in North India called PECfest is organized. Events like summit which is built on the entrepreneurship theme are also organized. There are various clubs that help you build cell phones within and up-skill yourself. There are also sports facilities in which you can enroll for extracurricular activities.
