An amazing year of placements in 2019.

Placements: About 80% of students were placed in my batch. The lowest package was 6 lakhs, the highest went up to 52 lakhs, and the average was 8 lakhs. Top recruiting companies were Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Natwest, etc. The roles offered were mostly for software engineers.

Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure of the academic buildings was good but certain areas wifi connection could use some improvement. The food quality was good, and it had variety for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian students. The proper hygiene was maintained both in hostel and mess area.

Faculty: The college had an excellent team of faculty. The student-to-faculty ratio was relatively low, which provided fluid interaction between students and faculty members. The course curriculum was very engaging and mostly kept the students busy but gave them relief to engage in extracurricular activities as well.

Other: I have always been a tech geek so this course was a perfect fit. The overall ranking of BIT Mesra made me choose this college. Also, the campus is very beautiful, and the festivals and events held are engaging and fun.

If you get admission in circuital branches. then you can consider it as a value for money.

Placements: CSE and IT have awesome placements but the condition in core branches is not so good. Top recruiters are Atlassian, Amazon and Sprinklr etc. In my course, 1/3 of students get the internship offer and there are so many companies that come to do the recruitment.

Infrastructure: In terms of infrastructure, my college is far better than many NITs as well as IITs. The lab is good enough to do the experiments. The classrooms are also okay and the library is also good. We get LAN connectivity throughout the campus and its speed is decent. The canteen is not so good.

Faculty: In the case of teachers, they have enough knowledge and my branch is fortunate, but the EEE and ECE have a strict curriculum. The course curriculum is designed well and it is good enough to know the basic knowledge of everything and for industry level, you have to do work on your own.

One should certainly choose BIT Mesra over lower or mid-NITs.

Placements: Our branch is information technology, and about 100% of students get placed in our branch. In the first month of placements itself, around 84% of students were placed. Many companies, like Microsoft, Amazon, Arcessium, and Mindtickle, come to our campus. Arcessium paid the highest salary to our branch and also the highest in the college, which was 51 LPA. The lowest salary package in our college is 8.6 LPA, and the average is 10.52 LPA. Our college also provides good internship opportunities, but this is true only for the CSE and IT branches. The same can't be said for other branches.

Infrastructure: The college is situated on the outskirts of Ranchi city and is pretty much a village. Its infrastructure is not that good. The college seriously needs a renovation, especially the hostels. The LAN connection is very erratic, and the drinking water is not that clean. Also, the fact is that the power supply is very erratic here as well, and no alternate power source is present to cater to the needs. Mess food is very hygienic but not tasty, but it is quite edible. Classrooms are good with proper air conditioning, lighting, and ventilation.

Faculty: All professors are Ph.D. qualified. The course curriculum is not very relevant in today's world. Professors are friendly, but at the same time, some are exceptions too. They provide extra time to solve the doubts. In the post-covid year (2022), we had 5 quizzes and one end of the semester, amounting to a total of 100, but normally it is mid-sem and end-sem, which amount to 100 marks. The exams are not that hard if they are attentive in classes and punctual in their studies.

Other: The fees are slightly high, but the return on investment is worth it. The college will surely provide you with enough opportunities. Many fests happen throughout the year, the biggest being bitotsav.

BITS but without S (spoiler alert: turns out better).

Placements: The placement stat of IT branch was rather good (better than CSE) with almost everyone eligible for campus placement. The Avg and median package was around 15-17LPA which makes this a suitable choice if you are not an Old NIT. Mostly the internship scenario in 2nd year is quite dead (most people get off campus internship in 2nd year). But companies like Walmart, Goldman Sachs, etc. Come for internship opportunities at 3rd year and provide PPO based on your profile.

Infrastructure: So the IT branch comes under Departure of CSE which (unlike all other departments) is situated in R&D building rather than the "Main building". The R&D building also houses an Supercomputer (yes we do) and classes are quite nice and well ventilated. Some classes are held in Lecture hall with centralized AC. Hostels are decent. Food is edible, laundry is provided. Hostel life isn't a issue here .

Faculty: Teacher's are qualified, even though there knowledge is not up to that mark. Teaching quality really varies from teacher to teacher Course curriculum is relevant and does make students industry ready (but good package comes from self learning). Semester exam are not that hard. It's a rare event when someone gets a back. Pass percentage is quite great gives a good reputation.

Other: The best thing is if you got IT instead of CSE it's not a loss. Faculty and curriculum bot needs to be a little updated. Events, fest, extra curriculum activities are constant, if you ever want to take time off studies there is always an event happening and easy for blowing steam off.

If students are getting CSE or IT branch here, then take it.

Placements: Almost 98% of eligible candidates are placed. The highest salary package offered is 49.76 LPA by Atlassian, and the lowest salary pacakge offered is 3.5 LPA. The average salary package offered is 11.76 LPA. Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Atlassian, etc., are top recruiters. Almost 30% of students from our batch get internships in some reputed companies. Software development engineer is the top role offered here.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. Wi-Fi and LAN provide a good speed and all the campus has Wi-Fi and is fully air-conditioned. Quality of food is good, with each hostel having its mess, medical facilities are good with hospital ambulance and dispensary. It has a separate sports complex which is very good contains most indoor and outdoor games like a cricket field, football field, badminton court, etc.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful when it comes to asking doubts, they are qualified with many of them having a Ph.D. but teaching quality is not very good as the scenario for most engineering colleges. The course is relevant except in the 1st year where students have to study all subjects. College exams are easy and from our batch, and none of the students failed till now.

Other: CSE or IT at this college is very good according to placements. If students are getting this branch just take it here as it is completely worth it. Events and fests are not taking place due to covid situations, but it is very good and of a great level. It has a wonderful surrounding cause it is surrounded by 3 rivers and the weather here is brilliant. It has many clubs and societies where students can explore themselves.
