B.Sc. (Hons.) in Botany - Batch of 2027
4.2
My honest college review of Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi.
Placements: Placements are decent overall, with the average package usually ranging between 6 LPA and 8 LPA, while the highest package can go up to 14 LPA-16 LPA depending on the batch and market conditions. Many reputed companies such as Brain, Nation with Namo, KPMG, etc., visit the campus for recruitment, offering roles in consulting, marketing, and business development.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really good and provides most of the facilities students need. The labs are well-equipped with all the tools required for practical learning, and Wi-Fi is available across the campus with decent connectivity. Classrooms are well-maintained, clean, and have projectors for teaching purposes. The library also has a good collection of books and a study area for self-study.
Faculty: The faculty members have good domain knowledge and are helpful whenever needed, but the teaching pattern varies from one professor to another. The curriculum covers the basics well and is fairly relevant to industry requirements. Semester exams are of moderate difficult if you attend classes regularly and prepare from standard books and PYQs.

Overall, it is a good college with cooperative teachers and good infrastructure.
Placements: Placements depend upon the course. Placements in this course are rare. The placement cell is very strong. They keep sending offers. You have to be attentive enough to grasp the opportunities coming your way. You need to make yourself smart and clever enough to cope with the population.
Infrastructure: The college just got renovated with a whole new science block, which is amazing. Labs and washrooms are clean. An elevator is available for differently abled people. There is proper security. There is also the provision of a hostel facility for non-Delhi students, with some formalities.
Faculty: Teachers are cooperative and friendly. They are concerned and worried about students. They will make every concept clear. They will answer all your doubts without any insults. They not only share their experiences but also guide you through what's better and what you must prefer. All you have to do is pay attention in class and you'll be fine.
Other: This course is good for those who have the proper knowledge or a proper plan. This is a good place to learn and grow in your skills and develop your personality.

My experience at Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi as a Botany Student.
Placements: The room for placement is very low. We usually receive internships from the college itself. But they also have a very low chance of selection, as many of us are not well-trained in the mannerisms of lab work. Most students usually opt for either the fourth year for experience or go for higher studies such as M.Sc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average. Even after many complaints, basic facilities of classrooms such as projectors and boards do not work properly. Wi-Fi is down sometimes but is usable. The library is one thing that is better in this college. For the mess and canteen, the food is fine. Although some problems arose in the past, they were resolved immediately. As per sports facilities, more equipment should be provided by the college.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Each teacher is better than the other. On the other hand, the curriculum appears to be just a waste of time, with no practical, applicable knowledge for future placements and no way that makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are neither too hard nor too easy. Students usually pass these exams, but the main issue is the attendance criteria, which should be removed.
Other: Better practical knowledge and a well-planned curriculum are needed in these fields. Along with various on-site and practical learning opportunities that can be used in the future, not just for exams.

I am satisfied with college. They provide good facilities.
Placements: Sri Venkateswara College is a well-known college with a 16th NIRF ranking and is well known for its science department. A good faculty of teachers with reliable experience has been provided. Each year, a large number of students apply for it, duly based on merit. Our batch solely consists of 30 students and they are provided with good knowledge. Add-on courses, vocational courses, and internships are available, and certain students graduate with good placement each year.
Infrastructure: Sri Venkateswara College has a very good infrastructure with proper working Wi-Fi. There are well-organized labs and classrooms, a reading room for students to learn in, and a medical service. Hostel of our college too has a good infrastructure with good quality of food provided with respect to taking care of the health of students
Faculty: Teachers of Sri Venkateswara College are quite helpful, qualified and experienced. They try their level best to make the concept clear. The course curriculum is quite relevant and provides the desired outcomes. Difficulties of semester exams depend upon students' willpower to study and their devotion to the subject. Students pass out with a good percentage and are rewarded with good results.
Other: Botany is a subject dealing with plants, their reproduction, their philosophy, anatomy, etc. It is really an interesting subject. Covid Times has fallen behind and has missed many events, festivals, and other activities. Scholarships are being provided to students scoring a food result. Knowledge with fun is a must with certain field visits and we hope to learn much more in our last two semesters.

This college provides excellent faculty members and facilities.
Placements: Placements cell is active in this college, and provides a wide range of internships and placements. Numerous companies hire interns from this college. The average stipend starts from Rs 3,000 per month and for placements, the average salary offered is Rs 50,000 per month. Many students availed the benefit of internships along with their studies. The majority of the posts include content writer, marketing intern, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. It contains a large playground, and it also has a botanical garden. The seminar halls are attractive, and every department has its staffroom followed by its practical laboratory. The classrooms are good and well maintained, air-conditioners are also available. The library is large and students can read there. The hostel facility is provided for outstation students, and there are two hostels Balaji for boys, and Padmavati for girls. Hostel facility is allotted according to the merit of students in their semester exams.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and highly qualified. The teaching quality is one of the main reasons for its top ranking at Delhi University. The curriculum is set by the Delhi University which is helpful, and subject-wise knowledge is provided according to the present-day requirements. Semester exams are moderate, and students can score well by attending classes regularly. The passing criteria are according to the norms of Delhi University.
Other: I opted for this botany course, because of my interest in plant life and nature. The best thing about this course is the trips to the fields to find and identify the numerous plants available in nature. Faculty members make this course interesting. The department has a botanical garden which is attractive. It also has a large playground, and the learning atmosphere of this college is magnificent. The administration is very helpful and supportive. It has a large exposure to co-curricular activities, and students can develop and evolve their various skills in the diverse field.

It is worth the fee we paid.
Placements: Placements for science aren't that common via the placement cell, but placement opportunities via teachers are abundant. The college runs its own internship program, known as the "Sri Vipra Project," which helps students learn new skills and also simultaneously hone their prior acquired skills.
Infrastructure: Our labs are equipped with the best microscopes and equipment. We have 2 labs for our course, each of which comes with instructions. Hostels have limited occupancy but have all the facilities one could ever dream of. It offers laundry, MS solar heaters and geysers, an air-conditioned study room, and various games in the common room.
Faculty: Professors are always ready to solve any doubts we have. Their method of teaching is easy to understand and grasp. The practicals are especially fun because we learn many skills that will later be required in industry jobs. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: Sri Venkateswara is known for its science department.

I am satisfied with the placements, internships, great infrastructure, and facilities.
Placements: A maximum number of students were placed in our course. The various companies like DELL and INFOSYS recruited the students from our course. About 95% of students got an internship and several roles of HR, subject matter expert, and campus ambassador were offered.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the botany department in Sri Venkateswara College is great. It offers well-renovated labs, a spacious classroom, library. The Wi-Fi facility is available both for teachers and students. The college has nice medical facilities for both girls and boys. The food in the canteen is very delicious and yummy, especially the chili potatoes and dosa is very famous in our canteen. The college is well-equipped with a basketball court, football ground, badminton court, etc.
Faculty: Teachers of the botany department are highly educated and knowledgeable. The lectures are highly interactive and make the curriculum relevant. The semester exams are not that difficult. Anyone who works hard enough can score good marks. The pass percentage is 33%.
Other: I chose botany because I had a keen interest in plant sciences. I love to learn how plants behave in different environmental conditions and their adaptations. The thing I wish would be better is the botanical garden of the college and the rooms should be equipped with air conditioners. Nexus is very famous for Sri Venkateswara College. It hosts renowned singers like Darshan Raval.

A great place to grow & learn. Great campus life and well-built infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: There is no significant placement records for botany honours students as it is a classical sciences field. Most of the students opt for higher studies. You may get internship opportunities (25%). Labs are well-equipped and practical knowledge is well delivered. Science fair, Pharma fair and a no. of Science fests happen which broadens the scope of knowledge for students.
Infrastructure: Hostel facility available in the college is equipped with sports, gym, Wi-Fi, library, mess, medical room, etc. All the rooms are well furnished and mess food is great. You get a lot of chances to participate in social activities in the hostel. Hostel/ campus is ragging free. Seniors are very helpful and there are student unions who stand with the students and resolve their problems.
Faculty: Faculty is very helpful qualified and knowledgeable. They work with hand in hand with the students. Course curriculum relevance can be doubted, it doesn't make students industry ready, rather students have to go for higher studies to do well. You get requisite practical knowledge and the college encourages entrepreneur mindsets and provides various opportunities to connect and create your network.
Other: I opted for this course because of my interest in microbiology and plant sciences. Most attractive thing for me was the campus life. We have lots of cultural societies there. There are no. of events happening at the campus, annual fest "nexus" is the biggest attraction. We have thousands of talented and enthusiastic students that make the campus more attractive.
