Shiksha Poll Result: KCET Score 2025 Spectrum
Recently, Shiksha conducted a poll asking students - how much score they are expecting in KCET 2025, and here are the responses -
Here's how the 6004 votes were distributed:
These numbers reveal that many candidates (44%) expect to score less than 100 marks in KCET 2025. This could be due to a tougher-than-expected paper, lack of preparation, or nervousness about performance. While this may seem concerning at first glance, it also indicates the competitive nature of the exam and the high expectations placed on KCET aspirants.

What does the KCET Score Expectations indicate?
The KCET 2025 score expectations reveal key insights into student confidence, exam difficulty, and the likely competition for KCET top engineering colleges. They also hint at emerging admission trends across score brackets.
High Competition Among Mid-Range Scorers
With 37% of students expecting scores between 100 and 159, this middle bracket becomes crucial. These students are likely targeting decent engineering colleges in Karnataka, including mid-tier government or private institutions. Admissions for branches like Mechanical or civil or newer specialisations (such as AI/ML or Data Science) in such colleges may see tight cutoffs in this range.
2. Fewer High Scorers Than Expected
Only 9% of respondents expect a score between 160 and 170, the top performance band. This suggests fewer students are confident about making it to top engineering colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, or MSRIT, where cutoffs for Computer Science or ECE often touch this range. This means more breathing room for candidates in the 150+ score range, especially for non-CSE branches.
3. Uncertainty Among a Fair Share of Students
About 10% of students are still unsure what to expect from their KCET performance. This indicates anxiety and the need for better post-exam support systems, like score predictors and analysis tools. It also suggests that many candidates wait for the official results or the KCET marks entry window to evaluate their standing better.
What to Do If You Scored Less Than 100 in KCET?
If you're among the 44% who expect a score below 100, don’t panic. Here are a few things you can consider:
- Look for colleges with lower cutoffs in branches with good placement potential.
- Consider alternative options like diploma-to-degree courses, management quota seats, or private universities.
- Focus on counselling strategy — knowing where you stand can help you make realistic and informed choices.
