JEE Advanced AIR 1 Topper Satvat Jagwani ready for CSE at IIT Bombay

JEE Advanced 2015 Topper Satvat Jagwani believes that it's his constant and continuous preparation of two long years that helped him reach where he is today. Read the full interview here.

JEE Advanced 2015 Topper Satvat Jagwani: A resident of Satna, Madhya Pradesh, Satvat Jagwani secured an AIR(All India Rank) 1 in JEE Advanced 2015 exam, whose results were declared recently

According to this topper, his success mantra of topping the exam is constant and continuous preparation of two long years. Also, he believes that nothing was possible without the support of his parents.   

Talking about his future plans, he says, “ As of now, I will be pursuing CSE from IIT Bombay. However, I might just get into research in the future”.

A big fan of story books, Satvat loves solving puzzles and playing chess. In an interview with shiksha.com, Satvat talks about his preparation strategies and his interest in other fields.

Q. Congrats on your achievement. So, how do you feel being the AIR 1 topper of JEE Advanced 2015?

A. Thank you so much first of all. I feel great and I am really happy. I believe that my hard work and study of two years got me where I am today.

Q. Did you expect to be one of the toppers of the exam?

A. Yes. I was expecting a rank like this because I was quite confident of my performance.

Q. What is your overall score?

A. My overall score is 469/504. My subject wise break up of marks is as follows:

Physics – 165/168

Chemistry – 142/168

Maths – 162/168

Q. How long have you been preparing? And what was your study plan like for JEE Advanced 2015?

A. I have been preparing for the last two years. I joined coaching classes in Kota. And I used to devote around 5-6 hours every day on self-study.

Q. What was your score and rank in JEE Main 2015? Have you taken any other exam? What was XII board marks?

A. I secured 330 out of 360 in JEE Mains 2015. Besides JEE Main and Advanced, I appeared for SCRA ( Special Class Railway Apprentices). This exam is for entry into railway engineering. Though I am not really interested in this field but took the exam because I wanted an experience out if it.  Also, I would like to tell you that I qualified for the second round of SCRA.  

In my XIIth Boards, I scored 86.6%.

Q. Which IIT are you aiming at and which stream do you wish to pursue?

A. As of now, I am aiming to get into IIT Bombay. I will be pursuing Computer Science Engineering.

Q. Any tips for aspirants who would be taking the exam next year?

A.  For next year JEE Advanced aspirants, I would like to say that concentrate of whatever you are studying and are taught in your classes. Always keep clearing your doubts. And enjoy what you are doing.

Also, I would suggest students to go for both Coaching and self-study. It really helps.

Q. Tell us about your family background?

Both my parents are doctors and I have a younger brother. He is currently in 9th grade.

The cutoff for B.Tech CSE at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is very competitive. In JoSAA 2025 counselling, the General category closing rank was around AIR 66, while OBC-NCL closed around rank 54. Cutoffs may change depending on category, seat availability and counselling rounds. IIT Bomb
