JEE Mains 2018 Topper AIR 2

Meet Hemant Kumar Chodipilli from Andhra Pradesh who has secured an AIR (All India Rank) 2 in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains) 2018. CBSE declared the JEE Main 2018 exam results on April 30. Apart from JEE Mains, this Andhra lad has shown a remarkable performance in SRMJEEE 2018 by securing fourth rank and is also one among the top 15 toppers of VITEEE 2018.

He was expecting a rank in the top 10 when the JEE Mains answer keys were released by CBSE, but being able to bag an AIR 2 is something that he never expected. It was a surprise for both Hemant and his family.

Hemant scored 120 marks each in Mathematics and Physics and 110 in Chemistry which makes it a total of 350 out of 360 marks. Being able to bag a top rank, on an average made him devote 13 hours daily to his preparation for Mains.

Aiming to seek admission into Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay, Kumar says that “Mains was not what I was aspiring for as JEE Advanced 2018 is the target”. Cracking the nut in JEE Advanced is the key to seek admission into the IITs across the country. But, clearing JEE Mains is the initial step and is equally important when eyeing for Advanced.

Hemant dreams to be able to seek admission into one of the IITs. He desires to complete his Btech in Computer Science from India Institute of Technology - Bombay and then pursue to either prepare for civil services or research work.

JEE Mains 2018 exam was held from April 8 to April 16. While Paper 1 was conducted on April 8, Paper 2 was spread over a period of two days; April 15 and April 16. Check the important dates of the exam here.

Through JEE Mains, candidates can seek admission into the NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. However, aspirants willing to seek admission into the IITs will have to appear for JEE Advanced as well. JEE Advanced 2018 registrations are scheduled to commence from May 2 to May 7. The exam will be conducted on May 20.
