Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) released notification for RRB ALP 2025-26 recruitment. A total of 9970 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment process. The exam is conducted for candidates in the age group of 18 to 30 years and who have completed Class 10/SSLC. The recruitment is done for the post of Assistant Loco Pilots and Technicians. This year, the age limit for ALP post has been revised. Earlier, the age limit for ALP was 18 to 28 years. The revised age limit is 18 to 30 years.

RRB ALP application form is released online to fill up vacancies for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot. The application form comprises several steps which candidates need to complete successfully. RRB ALP application fee is INR 500 for General and OBC categories while it is INR 250 for SC/ST/Ex-Serviceman/Female/Transgender/Minorities/Economically backward class. The application fee will be refunded to candidates after appearing in the first stage CBT. Candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories will get a partial refund of the application fee while SC/ST/Ex-Serviceman/ Female/Transgender/Minorities/Economically backward class will get a full refund of the application form

Yes, RRB ALP vacancies 2024 were revised by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). The vacancies were revised to 18799. Earlier, a total of 5696 vacancies were announced for the exam. The official notice released by RRBs reads, "Railway Recruitment Board has published CEN 01/2024 for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilo (ALP) with 5696 vacancies all over the Indian Railways. A review has been undertaken in view of additional demand received from Zonal Railways and vacancies of Assistant Loco
Pilot (ALP) stands enhanced to 18799. Necessary notice indicating RRB wise community wise breakup of vacancies will be displayed on website subsequently. Opportunity will also be given to existing candidates to revise their choice of RRB once details are published."

Candidates from all streams can become a loco pilot after completing Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognised institutions of NCVT/SCVT/Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the prescribed trades/3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical /Electronics / Automobile Engineering/Combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution in lieu of IT.

RRB ALP admit card is released on the region-wise official websites of RRBs. There are 21 RRBs where RRB ALP admit card download link is made available. In RRB ALP & Technician exam, only those who have applied for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and cleared second stage of, need to appear for CBAT. CBAT is for the candidates who have applied for technician post only. Candidates equal to eight times the number of ALP vacancies are called for CBAT based on the performance in Part A of second stage CBT, subject to qualifying the Part B. Candidates are required to qualify in each of the test batteries of CBAT. The questions in CBAT are in English and Hindi only. There is no negative marking in CBAT. To draw the merit list of ALP,  70 per cent weightage is given to Part A of second stage CBT and 30 per cent in CBAT.

The questions in this part are asked from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET). Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade. Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC (10+2). 

RRB ALP result is announced on the official website of 21 RRBs. Candidates need to visit the respective RRBs to check their results. The list of qualified candidates is made available in PDF form. The scorecard is released along with the result. Candidates can download their scorecards by logging with the required credentials. The hard copy of the scorecard is not sent to candidates by post.

In accordance with the eligibility criteria for RRB ALP, the age limit for Assistant Loco Pilots is set between 18 and 30 years. Candidates from different categories are eligible for certain relaxations in the RRB ALP age limit. The relaxation in the age limit is given below.

Candidates can reset the password using 'Change Password' option available on the upper right hand side of the application page. Candidates cannot change the chosen RRB after submission of application.

Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe who have given consent for availing free travel facility only can avail 'Free Travel Authority' (free Railway Pass).

Candidates cannot edit the details after submission of RRB ALP application form. Candidates are advised to re-check the detailed filled by them in application preview at Preference and Preview & Submit page for correctness and further submit application if all the information is correct since no change is permitted after submission of application for payment. If any information is found incorrect at application preview, they can click on 'Edit' button and rectify the incorrect information at respective page of application module, then again preview application for correctness and submit the application. After submission of the application, pay the requisite examination fee and complete the payment process. If a candidate wishes to modify, change or correct any details except details filled in the 'Create an Account' form (12 details and chosen RRB), they may do so by paying a modification fee
of INR 250 (non-refundable) for each occasion.

Aadhaar validation is required for smoother process at different stages of recruitment for the candidates themselves. To login for RRB ALP exam, candidates need to go to the application link on the home page. Under the 'Apply' tab select 'Already have an account' from the dropdown menu. Sign in to your account by entering registered mobile number or email ID, followed by Password, Captcha and then login. 

Click on the 'Forgot Password' option at 'Sign into Your Account' of login page. Enter either Aadhaar number or registered email/mobile number and date of birth. The revised password will be sent to the candidate's registered email ID only. Candidates have to login with revised password sent on their registered email.
