Q. Did you expect to clear the AIBE Exam?

Honestly I did not walk out of the AIBE exam hall thinking that I had surely cleared. The paper this time was a bit lengthy and quite different from the past years. But I had practised during my preparation. Managing time is also crucial, as is knowing the answers. I focused on staying calm and making the best use of my time.

Q. Which law subject did you feel was more challenging? And took more time for preparation?

In my case, it was the Civil Procedure Code. I found it a little because it is a vast subject with numerous orders and rules. Even a small mistake in understanding a line or a single word can change the entire meaning of a question. That is why CPC demanded extra time and careful reading from me. Along with this, studying judgments was also quite challenging. It was not just about remembering outcomes but about understanding the facts, issues and reasoning of the courts.

Q. How did you manage time between a full time job and AIBE preparation?

To be very honest, time management played the prime role. AIBE does not require extremely careful preparation. Since you have studied the same during graduation. I had prepared earlier during my academic years, which gave me confidence, but regular revision was still necessary. I studied in the mornings before going to work and used weekends to revise more thoroughly. By maintaining a routine, I was able to balance both my job and AIBE preparation properly.

Q. Do you feel coaching plays an integral part in clearing the AIBE Exam?

Honestly, no. I don’t feel there is a real necessity for formal coaching to clear AIBE. Coaching can guide you, but it cannot sit with you during revision or build understanding for you. For an exam like AIBE, if a person knows the basic law subjects properly and studies with clarity and sincerity, qualifying is very much achievable. Since AIBE is a qualifying exam and not a competitive one, focused self-study matters more than coaching.

Q. What was your study plan for AIBE?

My study plan was quite simple and practical. I focused mainly on understanding the law through bare acts, because many questions in AIBE are asked directly from them. I made sure to read the bare acts thoroughly and become comfortable with their language. Along with that, I revised basic legal concepts, amendments and a few landmark judgments. I also solved past years’ question papers to understand the AIBE Exam Pattern. Regular revision and familiarity with the bare acts formed the core of my preparation.

Q. You always wanted to be a lawyer?

When I was in Class 8th I decided that I want to become a lawyer. I really worked hard to achieve my goal. Law was always my first priority. I am so happy that I achcieved it.

Q. Any tips for students who are planning to appear in the AIBE 21 Exam?

I would suggest aspirant to not take AIBE lightly anymore. The exam difficutly level has increased. You can not think of just appearing for AIBE Exam without good preparation. So students preparing for the AIBE 21 exam, don't ignore your academics! Study thoroughly from the start of the semester, keep notes and have materials ready. This will help you crack the AIBE exam very easily.

The Bar Council of India conducts the All India Bar Examination. The exam is held to award the Certificate of Practice to law graduates. The BCI handles all aspects of the exam, including the syllabus, exam pattern, and registration, which is available on allindiabarexamination.com.

The AIBE syllabus is considered moderate in difficulty, focusing on fundamental legal concepts rather than complex, specialised knowledge. However, since it is no more the open-book exam, candidates have huge syllabus to cover.

No. As per the BCI rules, candidates can not practice in the court of law until they have a certificate of practice. The CoP will be issued only to those who clear the AIBE Exam.
