BHU launches Dr SR Ranganathan Internship Programme for Library Science Graduates & Postgraduates
The BHU Dr SR Ranganathan Internship Programme will select 20 interns annually for a one-year internship, with a monthly stipend of INR 20,000. Interns will gain hands-on experience in library operations, contributing fresh ideas and innovative perspectives. High-performing interns may be offered an extension for up to a year.
BHU Internship Programme: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has introduced a new internship programme for library science graduates and postgraduates. Funded by the Ministry of Education’s Institution of Eminence initiative, this programme aims to enhance the skills of young professionals while improving library operations at BHU. It is named in honour of Dr SR Ranganathan, the pioneer of modern library science in India.

The programme will select 20 interns annually for a one-year internship, with a monthly stipend of INR 20,000. Interns will gain hands-on experience in library operations, contributing fresh ideas and innovative perspectives. High-performing interns may be offered an extension for up to a year. Upon completing six months, interns will receive a certificate of internship.

BHU Vice-Chancellor, Sudhir Kumar Jain, expressed that the Dr. SR Ranganathan Internship Programme demonstrates the university's dedication to providing new growth opportunities and attracting exceptional talent. "This initiative will offer aspiring library professionals the chance to refine their skills and prepare for future roles," he said.
Improving Library Operations and Intern Skills
Managed by the Sponsored Research Industrial Consultancy Cell (SRICC), the programme focuses on improving the efficiency of library operations while enhancing the professional development of interns. The programme targets Library Science graduates and postgraduates from the top 100 universities in India. This internship aims to foster future-ready library science professionals by offering practical exposure to the field.
