JMI Entrance Exam 2026: Registration Form (OUT), Dates, Pattern, Syllabus, Eligibility, Question Paper

Jamia Millia Islamia University conducts JMI Entrance Exam once every year for admissions to UG and PG courses offered by the university along with PG Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, MPhil, PhD, and certificate courses under various faculties/ departments/ centres such as Engineering, Architecture & Planning, Hospitality & Travel, Animation, Mass Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, Languages, Commerce, Natural Sciences, Dentistry, Law, Fine Arts, Management Studies as well as Teaching & Education.

• For B.A. & Diploma: Admission to B.A. Diploma courses at JMI are offered based on CUET scores. The National Testing Agency conduct this entrance exam every year , separately for UG and PG courses. After appearing for CUET exam, candidates have to apply on JMI admission portal.
• For BTech: Admission to the B.Tech program of Jamia Millia Islamia is based on the final rank of JEE (Main) that is conducted by the National Test Agency (NTA). To be admitted to the BTech programme at JMI, candidates who submit the JEE Main online form must separately submit the Jamia Millia Islamia online application form at www.jmicoe.in.
• For B.Arch: Similarly, candidates need to clear the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture, fill out the admission form for JMI and enter the NATA application number in the JMI form. The rank list is published based on the final rank secured in NATA, strictly as per merit and JMI Admission Policy. During the counselling sessions, candidates must bring the NATA scorecard for admission to the B.Arch program at JMI.
• For BDS: Admissions to the B.D.S. program at JMI are based on the rank secured in NEET conducted by NTA. Candidates must choose Jamia Millia Islamia with the appropriate reservation category in the NEET application form. No separate form is required to be filled out at JMI or its website by the candidates. 
• For Ph.d: The schedule of admission tests for the Ph.D. program is notified separately. 

Note: Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with the University of Delhi, also offers MSc (Mathematics Education) programme under Meta University Concept.

The JMI Entrance Exam eligibility criteria vary from course to course. The same for different courses is listed below - 

BA (Hons) (Mass Media Hindi)

The eligibility criteria for admissions in this course at Jamia Millia Islamia University state that interested candidates should have secured at least 50% aggregate marks or in the concerned subject with Senior Sec. School Certificate or an equivalent examination.

MA Mass Communication 

The eligibility criteria of the JMI Entrance Exam for this course state that a candidate who is a graduate in any discipline (in the 10+2+3 pattern) is eligible to apply for admission to the MA Mass Communication course at Jamia Millia Islamia University. Apart from this, the candidate should have secured at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate at the graduation level.

MA (Convergent Journalism) (Self-Financed)

AJK MCRC states that any candidate who is a graduate in any stream (10+2+3) from a recognized college with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks meets the eligibility criteria for this course admissions.

M.A.(Development Communication) (Self Financed)

As per criteria, a graduate in any stream (10+2+3) from a recognized college with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks is eligible to apply.

M.A.(Visual Effects and Animation) (Self Financed)

A candidate must have graduation in any discipline (10+2+3) with not less than 50% marks in aggregate. Apart from this, the applicants must be proficient in Windows and having knowledge of Adobe Photoshop/Adobe Illustrator will make the candidate desirable.

MA (Media & Governance)

The eligibility criteria for MA in Media & Governance states that a candidate must have at least 50 per cent in aggregate at graduate level in any discipline.

PG Diploma in TV Journalism (Hindi Medium) (Self-Financed)

To be eligible for admission in this course, aspirants should have completed their graduation from a recognized college (in any stream) with at least 45 per cent aggregate marks.

PG Diploma in Urdu Mass Media

For Urdu Mass Media course admissions, candidates should have cleared graduation with at least 45% marks in Urdu/Persian/Arabic. The admission in this course is done through CUET PG.

PG Diploma in Still Photography & Visual Communication (Self-Financed)

Candidates who have completed their graduation (10+2+3) in any discipline and have scored at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for admissions.

JMI Eligibility 2026 for Other Courses

For BTech, admission is offered to eligible candidates as per merit based on the final ranks of candidates in JEE Main

For BArch, admission is offered to eligible candidates as per merit based on the final ranks of candidates in NATA conducted by the Council of Architecture.

Admission to the BDS program is based on merit in NEET conducted by the Medical Counselling Cell (MCC) of D.G.H.S. GoI.

1. Register at JMI 2026 admission portal or the Portal of Controller of Exam at admission.jmi.ac.in

To fill out JMI entrance exam application form, caniddates have to register themselves on the admission portal by entering following details.

2. Fill JMI entrance exam 2026 application form

After candidates verify their email account, they can log in by entering their Email ID and password. After logging in, candidates have to select the course type and course name and then proceed further.

It may be noted that according to JMI's previous year's official statement "a candidate is allowed to submit only ONE form for each program/group of programmes (With Combined Entrance Test). Multiple submission of forms for the same program by a candidate could cause rejection of his/her candidature."

3. Fill in Academic Details

Candidates have to give the academic details such as class 12 board/university name, year of passing, marks obtained, college name, division/grade, total marks and percentage for UG level program, and the details of class 12 and graduation for PG level program. Candidates whose results are awaited should select on the 'result awaited' check box. After that candidates have to upload the original marksheet of the last passing year/ semester.

4. Pay JMI Entrance Exam Application Fee

After completing the JMI application form, the next step is to pay the application fee. Candidates can pay the fee via online mode via credit card/ debit card/ net banking.

Once the fee is paid successfully, the candidates’ JMI entrance exam 2026 application process stands completed. Also, JMI will not refund the application fee, once paid. Only if the transaction is incomplete from JMI's side, the fee will be refunded. 

Jamia also opens JMI correction window for registered candidates to make changes in their JMI application form. As per Jamia Millia Islamia official prospectus, after the correction window closes, the university will not change the data of a candidate at any stage of the admission, for any reason.

Note: Candidates willing to apply for more than one program could log into the JMI exam portal scroll for the program and follow the same procedure. However, candidates must note that if a candidate submits more than one form for the same programme, Jamia reserves the right to reject the application form.

The JMI Entrance Exam Pattern is prescribed by Jamia Millia University each year. According to pattern for Mass Communication, candidates need to attempt 200 questions in 3 hours. The JMI entrance question paper will include multiple choice questions. There will be no subjective questions. The entrance exam for admission in courses offered at AJK Mass Communication Research Centre contains two sections.

• Section A comprises objective types questions from National and international political issues/personalities, General knowledge, Film, Television and other media, Art, Literature and culture etc.
• Section B comprises essay-type long answers that reflect the candidates' critical understanding of contemporary issues and the media.
