The number of candidates to be qualified for the exam should be equal to six per cent of the candidates appearing in both the papers of the exam

In order to be considered for ‘JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor’ or ‘eligibility for Assistant Professor only’, candidates must appear for both paper-I and -II and score the minimum qualifying marks as mentioned below.

The number of candidates to be declared qualified in any subject for a particular category is derived using the below-mentioned formula.
As per the aforementioned example, the aggregate percentage of the two papers corresponding to the number of slots arrived at, determines the UGC NET cutoff for the eligibility of Assistant Professor in Economics for SC category. The same formula is applied to determine the subject-wise qualifying cutoff for all categories.
Candidates who had applied for JRF and the eligibility of Assistant Professor out of the total number of qualifying candidates (derived as per step 4) are considered for JRF.
Total slots available for awarding JRF are allocated to different categories as per the reservation policy of the Government of India. The subject- and category-wise allocation of JRF slots is one as per the formula mentioned below:
