Mistakes to Avoid While Filling the UGC NET 2026 Application Form

1. Waiting for the Last Date- Many candidates wait for last day. But during last days website is slow and payment pages can fail. Fill application form early and keep time to fix any issue.

2. Name, Date of Birth or Gender Not Matching Documents- Enter your name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth exactly as in your Class 10 certificate and ID proof.

3. Wrong Category Selection- Choose your category carefully. Claiming a category without a valid certificate can lead to cancellation of candidature at the verification stage. OBC-NCL and EWS candidates should keep a valid, correctly dated certificate ready.

4. Filling More Than One Application- Candidates should submit only one application to avoid disqualification. If you have made a mistake, use the correction window instead of making a new registration.

5. Wrong Mobile Number and Email ID- Use your own mobile number and email ID, not any of a friend, parent or cyber cafe. All messages about the city slip, admit card and any updates are sent there.

6. Photograph Not Matching the Rules

  • Photo should be recent, in colour on a plain white background.
  • Face should be clearly visible about 80 percent with ears, and photo size should be 10 to 200 KB.
  • Avoid caps, dark glasses, shadows and selfies with an uneven background.

7. Signature in the Wrong Format or Size- Signature should be between 10 and 50 KB. Sign on white paper with a black or blue pen and scan it clearly. Do not sign in capital letters, or upload a blurred signature.

8. Wrong Choice of Exam Cities- You can choose exam cities in the form, so select the cities near your location carefully. The city is generally allotted on the basis of the choices, and changing it later is not easy.

9. Not Checking the Form Before Final Submission- Preview every field before you click the final submit button. Check spellings, dates, category, subject, exam city and uploaded images once again.

10. Not Downloading the Confirmation Page- Download the confirmation page and keep the application number. You will need it to log in later for the correction window, the city slip and the admit card.
