IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern
The mains exam of IBPS PO comprised both objective and descriptive type tests. Questions in the objective section were asked from Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language and Data Analysis & Interpretation. The descriptive section carried questions from English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The duration of the test was 3 hours and 30 minutes. The total marks of the test are 225. Shiksha visited one of the IBPS PO 2020 mains exam centres in Greater Noida to gather the feedback of students regarding the overall difficulty level of the exam. Check below the feedback shared by the students.
Anuj Srivastava: "The overall difficulty of IBPS PO mains exam was moderate. The English Language section was moderate. Questions were asked from passages, sentence rearrangement, fill in the blanks, error detection, antonyms and synonyms, cloze test, etc. Data Interpretation and analysis was moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from DI (20 questions), number series (four questions), data analysis (three to four questions), probability (one question), etc. Reasoning and Computer Aptitude was moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from puzzles (25 questions), coded blood relation (three questions), machine input (five questions), coded direction (one questions), etc. There were no questions from Computer Aptitude. The General Awareness section was moderate to difficult. The descriptive paper was moderate. The Essay topic was based on work from home advantage and disadvantage."
Mahek Arora: "The overall paper was moderate in terms of difficulty level. I found the Reasoning section to be tough. The GA section was easy according to me. The descriptive paper was moderate. Essay writing topic was based on the work from home-its advantages and disadvantages. In letter writing, we were asked to write a letter to the editor regarding spreading awareness among youths spelling and grammatical skills are degrading day by day due to the texting apps."
Satish Kumar: "The paper was moderate to difficult in terms of difficulty level. I found the Reasoning section to be tough. In Quant, questions were asked from DI, wrong number, probability, etc. The GA section was average as compared to SBI. In the descriptive test, we were given to write the formal and informal letter and essay of 250 words."
Shreya: "The paper was moderate in terms of difficulty level. The Reasoning section was tough. Like every year, the Quant section was tough but easy than SBI PO exam. The GA section was easy and English section was moderate. The descriptive test was easy."

Total 35 questions were asked in this section. Total marks allotted to this section are 40. Candidates had to complete the paper within 40 minutes. Questions were asked from Reading Comprehension, Double Fillers, Para Jumbles (Old Pattern), Word Rearrangement, Starters & Connectors, Cloze Test (Economy), Phrase Replacement, etc.
Data Analysis & Interpretation
The Data Analysis & Interpretation section was moderate. Total 35 questions were asked in this section. Candidates were given 45 minutes to complete this section. Total marks allotted to this section are 60. Questions were asked from Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Quantity Comparison, Wrong Number Series, Time, Speed and Distance, Mensuration Caselet and Caselet (Boys-Girls).
Reasoning & Computer Aptitude
Total marks allotted to this section are 45. Candidates had to attempt this section within 60 minutes. Total questions asked in this section were 45. Questions were asked from Puzzles, Data Sufficiency, Coded Directions, Coded Blood Relations, Machine Input-Output, Coding-Decoding, Logical Reasoning, Box-Based MI, Hexagon+Triangle+Circle, etc.
General Awareness
This section carried a total of 40 questions. Candidates had to attempt this section within 35 minutes. The total marks allotted to this section are 40. Questions were asked from the following topics.

The descriptive test was conducted for 25 marks in IBPS PO mains exam. The descriptive writing test comprised two questions from letter and essay. Candidates had to attempt the section within 30 minutes.
