The revised SSC CHSL Cutoff 2023 for the Tier 1 exam was released on December 12, 2023, along with the additional result. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam 2023 was conducted from August 2 to 17, 2023. The Commission released the SSC CHSL result 2023 on September 27, 2023 for the Tier 1 exam.

SSC CHSL cutoff marks 2023 clearly show the actual difficulty level of the exam. Candidates are required to achieve minimum cut-off marks to qualify for the next stage of the SSC CHSL exam. SSC CHSL cutoff is fixed based on different parameters including the number of vacancies, the number of candidates applying for the exam and the difficulty level of the paper. The number of candidates who appear in the SSC CHSL 2023 exam is always greater than the number of vacancies, hence considering it as a component of the cutoff will be a flawed inclusion.

The final SSC CHSL merit list 2023 will contain the post-wise and category-wise break-up of candidates provisionally shortlisted for different posts against the vacancies reported by the User Departments and cut-off marks of the last shortlisted candidates against each post.

What is SSC CHSL Cut-off 2023?

SSC CHSL cutoffs are minimum marks that candidates should score in order to qualify for the next level of exam. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) releases the CHSL cutoffs for all the tiers every year on its official website along with the results.

The SSC CHSL 2023 cut-offs are calculated at the following stages:

  • Firstly, the CHSL cutoff for the Tier 1 exam is decided based on marks scored by candidates in the paper.
  • In the SSC CHSL Tier 2 paper, candidates need to score a minimum of 33 per cent marks in order to qualify and get selected for the Tier 3 exam.
  • The commission does not release cutoffs for the Tier 3 exam as it is qualifying in nature.
  • Final SSC CHSL cutoffs for all those candidates who clear the SSC CHSL Tier 3 exam are released based on the candidate’s performance in Tier 1 and 2 papers.
  • SSC releases the SSC CHSL cutoff for each post separately. Under each post, the SSC CHSL category-wise cut off is released.

Q:   Is SSC CHSL Tier 1 qualifying in nature?

A:

No, the SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam is not qualifying in nature as candidates need to obtain the cut off marks to qualify for the SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam. The SSC CHSL cut off 2023 for Tier 1 is decided by the Commission itself based on candidates' performance in exam, difficulty level of question paper and number of vacancies. Candidates who obtain the SSC CHSL cutoff for the specific post they have applied for are declared pass in the exam and are shortlisted to appear for Tier 2 exam. However, SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam is qualifying as for the final selection of candidates only Tier 2 marks are taken into consideration.

Q:   Who releases SSC CHSL cutoff?

A:
The exam conducting body, Staff Selection Commission SSC releases CHSL cut off marks. The SSC CHSL cutoff is mentioned in the result PDF. In addition to the cutoff, the SSC CHSL result pdf also mentions the number of candidates available under each category. SSC CHSL cutoff depends on the number of vacancies, and the difficulty level of the paper.

Q:   When does the SSC CHSL cutoff release?

A:
SSC CHSL cutoff is released along with the result of both the tiers (1 and 2) of the exam. SSC releases CHSL cutoffs for all the tiers every year on its official website along with the results. SSC CHSL cutoffs are minimum marks that candidates should score in order to qualify for the next level of exam. The cutoffs for SSC CHSL are calculated as per the criteria fixed by the Commission.

Factors Determining SSC CHSL 2023 Cutoff

A lot of factors are considered by Commission at the time of calculation of the SSC CHSL cutoff for different tiers. Some such factors are mentioned below:

  • The difficulty level of the exam
  • Number of vacancies available
  • The number of candidates who appeared for the exam
  • The normalisation of candidates' scores
