The Eligibility Criteria for TNTET Paper 1 and Paper 2

Tamil Nadu Recruitment Board conducts a teacher eligibility test commonly known as the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) for candidates who want to become a teacher in primary and upper primary schools of Tamil Nadu. TNTET is conducted every year for eligible and aspiring candidates. To apply for TNTET the candidates need to satisfy various eligibility criteria. TNTET Eligibility Criteria 2022  

The TNTET exam is divided into two papers which are paper 1 and paper 2. The paper 1 exam is taken to check the eligibility of the candidates to teach in classes from 1 to 5 (primary school). On the other hand, paper 2 is taken to check the eligibility of candidates to teach in classes from 6 to 8 (upper primary schools). The eligibility criteria for paper 1 and paper 2 have been provided below for the candidates who want to appear in TNTET 2022 exam.  

TNTET Eligibility for Paper 1  

The paper 1 eligibility has been given below for the candidates who want to teach in the primary schools of Tamil Nadu state. The candidate who will not satisfy the eligibility criteria of the TNTET will not be permitted to apply for TNTET application.

TNTET Paper 1 Educational Qualification  

The detailed paper 1 educational qualification eligibility has been given below for TNTET 2022 exam: 

  • Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50 per cent scores and passed or appeared in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education  

Or, 

  • Graduation with minimum 50 per cent aggregate marks and passed or appearing in the final year of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.,)  

Or,  

  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 45 per cent score and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year diploma in Elementary Education by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002  

Or, 

  • Candidate should have a certificate of Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)  

Or, 

  • Candidates must hold a degree of Graduation and pass or appear in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. 

TNTET Paper 1 Age Limit  

The candidates applying for the TNTET paper1 must be above 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit to appear in the TNTET exam.

TNTET Eligibility for Paper 2  

The candidates who want to be a teacher in upper primary schools of Tamil Nadu have to take the TNTET paper 2 exam. The candidates who do not satisfy the educational qualification and age eligibility for the TNTET paper 2 will not be allowed to take the TNTET 2022 paper 2 exam.

TNTET Paper 2 Educational Qualification  

The detailed educational qualification needed to appear in the TNTET 2022 exam for paper 2 has been given below: 

Applicants must have a graduation degree and are appearing or have passed a 2-year diploma in elementary education 

Or, 

candidate must be a Graduate with a minimum score of 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of B.Ed  

Or, 

Candidate should have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50 per cent score and have passed or appearing in the final year of B.El.Ed. 

Or, 

Candidates should be graduate degree holders with a minimum of 50 per cent marks and pass or appear in the final year of B.Ed. can also apply for TNTET 2022 (or) 

The candidate who is a Graduation degree holder with the least 45 per cent marks can apply for the TNTET 2022. The candidates who have qualified or appearing in the final year of B.Ed. are also eligible to apply 

Or, 

Any candidate who has qualified B.Ed. The program, affiliated with the NCTE, is eligible to appear in TNTET 2022. 

TNTET Paper 2 Age Limit  

The candidates applying for TNTET paper 2 must be above 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit to appear in the TNTET exam.

TNTET Exam Important Details 

The essential details regarding the TNTET have been given below for the candidates has been given below for the aspiring candidates: 

  • TNTET is conducted once a year for aspiring candidates. 
  • There is no negative marking for the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2022 Paper-I and paper 2. 
  • The TNTET exam is taken in the offline mode which is pen-paper based. However, the application process for TNTET Exam is online. 
  • The exam is of 3 hours duration. 
  • TN TET exam is conducted in two languages, English and Tamil.

Yes, the syllabus of TNTET Paper 1 and 2 varies. Candidates who give Paper 1 is of primary level that is who want to teach from classes 1 to 5. On the other hand, Paper 2 is for upper primary level that is for those candidates who want to teach from classes 6 to 8.

The TNTET admit card consists of important information including candidates name, photo, exam centre, shift timings, etc. Without the hall ticket, candidate will not be allowed to sit in the exam.

No. Candidate can't download their TNTET hall ticket in an offline mode. It should be downloaded in an online mode by visiting the official website at trb.tn.gov.in. A direct link will also be provided here once it is released to download the admit card.
