In a Computer Test or CBT mode of examination, the candidate is required to sit in front of a computer as it is allocated to them against their roll number. At the given time of examination, the candidate will be able to proceed with the process of taking the exam. In the CUET CBT mode of examination, the candidate can see the questions on the screen and mark/unmark the answers with a mouse.
Candidates preparing for the CUET 2026, must appear for the CUET mock test when released. CUET mock test will help candidates become familiar with the exam environment to avoid any surprises on the day of examination. NTA has announced the CUET UG 2026 exam dates related to application form and schedule. NTA CUET 2026 exam will be held tentatively between May 11 and May 31, 2026
How to Appear for CUET UG 2026 CBT Mode?
Candidates who will appear for CUET exam must follow the steps mentioned below to take the computer-based test smoothly from exam centre.
- To appear for the NTA CUET exam, candidates must report at the allotted exam centre on the given date and time of the exam.
- Candidates must complete the frisking process to enter the examination hall.
- A computer terminal indicating the candidate’s roll number will be allotted in the designated exam hall number. Applicants must sit on their allotted computer only. Any candidate found violating the rules, their candidature will be cancelled.
- The screen will now display the ‘Welcome [Candidate’s name]’ screen. Click on the tab ‘Proceed’. Screen will now show the login page. Test taker must now enter the following login credentials:
- Username
- Password
- After successful login, detailed instructions about the exam will be shown. Test takers are advised to read the instructions carefully.

CUET CBT: General Instructions
While appearing for CUET UG 2026 exam in CBT mode, test takers must follow the exam day instructions to appear for exam. Below are the details and instructions that candidate must know before appearing for CUET in CBT mode.
- Exam duration will be mentioned on the CUET admit card issued by NTA.
- The timer will be set on the server. The countdown timer on the top right corner of the screen is displayed for candidates, mentioning the time left for the exam.
- When the timer reaches zero, the examination will end by itself, and candidates will not be required to end or submit their examination.
- On the left side of the screen, a question palette will be displayed showing the status of each question.
- ‘Marked for Review’ status indicates that the answer marked has to be looked at again. It will be automatically saved even if the flag is not removed.
- The question paper and answer will be displayed in English and the chosen language.
- Candidates will be provided with the rough sheet to perform their calculations. Candidates must provide their roll number on sheet and hand over to invigilator after completion.

CUET CBT: Navigate between Questions
- To navigate between questions, candidates must click on the question number displayed on the left side of the screen.
- Candidates must click on the right/left arrow to move to the next/previous question and save the response to the previous question.
- Answers are automatically saved when the candidate clicks on the right arrow, which is placed on the top right side of the screen. There will be no separate ‘Save’ button.
- The question status displayed on the bottom left screen will show the status using symbols such as:
CUET CBT: Answering a Question
To answer the questions in CUET CBT mode, candidates must follow the procedure:
- To select the correct answer, click on the answer option, and to deselect, click on the chosen answer again.
- To change the answer, candidates can click on the other option, and the answer will be changed.
- Candidates can also click on ‘mark for review’ option to come back to the question later. The mark for review option is placed on the left side of the question window.
- After answering, candidates can click on the tab ‘unmark for review’ after reviewing and freezing the answer.
CUET CBT: Navigation Through Sections
- CUET sections are displayed on the left side of the screen. Candidates can view the questions in a particular section by clicking on the question number.
- Candidates can shuffle between sections and question at any point in time.
CUET CBT: Important Instructions
- If the keyboard is attached to a computer, it will be disabled during the exam duration. Candidates will be able to change or modify answers with mouse only.
- If the computer malfunctions during exam time, he/she will be allotted another computer system immediately. Time lost will be adjusted.
CUET UG Rough Work
- Blank Sheets for doing Rough work or calculations shall be provided at the CUET exam centre. The rough sheets will have a Header page for the candidates to write down his/her Name and Roll Number.
- All calculations/writing work is to be done only on the rough sheets provided at the CUET exam centre and on completion of the test candidates must hand over the rough sheets to the invigilator on duty in the Room/Hall.
