Is there any specific IISER Exam Dress Code mentioned by the exam authority?

As per the exam officials, there is no information provided on the official website and in the information brochure about the IISER dress 2025 for the candidates. Although according to the information available on the IAT 2025 admit card, test takers should not wear any jewelry or other items containing metal. Mobile phones or any other electronic gadgets, such as Smart watches, calculators, are NOT ALLOWED inside the test centre.

IISER Exam Dress Code 2025

To ensure a smooth and respectful examination environment, it's crucial to adhere to the appropriate IAT 2025 dress code guidelines. While there may not be explicit official rules by the exam officials, candidates should still prioritize comfort and simplicity in their clothing choices. Avoid anything inappropriate or distracting, as it could potentially prevent you from taking the exam. IISER Exam 2025 Dress Code for Male Candidates

Male candidates who are planning to take IAT 2025 must go through the dress code and guidelines mentioned below:

  • Try wearing simple and comfortable clothes, such as half-sleeved shirts. If it's winter, wear a sweater with fewer pockets.

  • Avoid wearing caps or mufflers. Sikh candidates may wear a turban instead of a cap. In such cases, students are advised to reach the exam centers a bit early to allow for hassle-free security checks.

  • Try to avoid any sort of metallic objects like jewelry, rings, and belts.

  • Candidates are advised to avoid jackets, hoodies, and extra layers of clothing.

IISER Exam Dress Code for Women

Women are recommended to wear a comfortable and formal dress code (either ethnic or western), but it should be formal attire. 

  • Choose either of kurtas, long or midi dresses, tops, and trousers.
  • Avoid metal jewelry, such as rings, bracelets, necklaces, and heavy earrings.
  • Do not wear belts or clothes with metallic buttons.
  • Wear open-toe sandals or floaters.
  • Avoid wearing fashion accessories.
  • Veils, caps, or headgear are not permitted. For religious reasons, get clearance from the authorities in advance.

Banned Items at IISER 2025 Exam Centre

The following items are barred from being carried to the exam centre:

  • Books, copies or papers of any kind.
  • Mobile phones, calculators, watches or any other electronic or digital devices.
  • Bags or wallets.

The exam authorities have also mentioned that there would not be any place to keep candidates’ personal belongings, hence you should ideally not carry any personal belongings, except the permitted items inside the exam hall.

Q:   Am I allowed to carry a calculator to the exam centre of IISER Entrance Exam?
A:

No. Students are not permitted to carry any electronic device including a calculator. However, candidates need not to get worried about the calculator as the numerical which will be asked in the examination will be upto the class 12. Candidates need to remember some basic log values which can be used in solving some of the equations in mathematics and Physics The student will be provided with plain sheets to do their calculation.

Q:   When will the first round of admissions start for the IISER 2025 entrance exam?
A:

Once IISER result is declared, a seat allotment list is declared containing roll numbers of candidates who are allocated seats in BSMS programme through different channels (SCB, KVPY JEE). Candidates can check the first round allotment list on the official website of the exam on July 15, 2025, Tentatively. All candidates whose roll numbers appear in the first round allotment list need to log in to their application portal to download the offer letters.

Q:   What items are not permissible to be carried at IISER exam centres?
A:

The following items or objects will not be allowed to be carried to the IISER 2025 exam centres.

  • Stationery items such as test-based material (written/printed), papers, notes, Pencil box, pouches, geometry box, pen, scale/ruler, eraser, etc.
  • Electronic devices such as calculators, cameras, electronic pens, scanners, etc.
  • Accessories such as bags, belts, caps, goggles, wallets, etc.
  • Devices used for communication such as mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth, fitness bands, earphones, pager, etc.
  • Eatables (packed or home-cooked), thermos, etc.
Q:   What are the IISER Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) refund rules?
A:

Rules related to withdrawal/refund of Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF):
1. The application fee paid during filling up the application form is not refundable.
2. Refund policy for the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) is given below:

  1. The candidate can withdraw his/her seat by selecting the option “WITHDRAW SEAT” in the application portal. No other form/method of withdrawal is accepted. Email or phone communication in this regard shall not be entertained.
  2. Once a candidate has withdrawn, he/she will not be considered for further rounds of counseling/admission process. A withdrawn candidate cannot re-enter the admission process under any circumstances.
    There are two important withdrawal dates:
    ? Round-wise withdrawal (RW) date, and
    ? Final withdrawal (FW) date. RW and FW dates can be found below.
  3. If a candidate withdraws from the counselling process before RW deadline, then no cancellation fee will be applicable, i.e., the entire SAF (after the deduction of bank charges, if applicable) will be refunded.
  4. If a candidate withdraws after the RW deadline, but before the FW deadline, then a non-refundable administrative fee will be deducted which is ?10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) for GEN/OBC/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD/KM and Kashmiri Pandit/Kashmiri Hindu Families (non-migrants) candidate and ?5,000/- (Rupees five thousand only) for SC/ST candidates.
  5. Once a candidate has withdrawn the seat through the counselling portal, the amount due will be refunded to the bank account provided in the IISER Preference Form. Such candidates do not need to take any additional steps towards their SAF refund. All efforts will be made to ensure that the refunds are processed within 15 working days after the withdrawal.
  6. The Seat Acceptance Fee will be eventually transferred to the IISER which the candidate finally registers at, and the respective IISER will adjust the fees that may be applicable, locally from the candidate upon registration at the particular IISER. Any withdrawal after the FW deadline will be taken care by that particular IISER following the instructions given below.
  7. If the candidate fails to join in-person at the offered IISER on the joining date mentioned in the offer letter of the respective IISER, the cancellation fee decided by the concerned IISER will be applicable.
  8. Further, a candidate who has paid the SAF but fails to show up by the last date of admission fee payment at the concerned IISER, will not be considered for further rounds of admission.
  9. If the candidate decides to discontinue after joining any particular IISER, the refund policy of that IISER will be applicable.
    IISERs and JAC are not liable for losses incurred if an application is not withdrawn in the above manner on or before the stipulated date and time.
Q:   When will be the Portal opens to upload documents and freeze IISER preferences for IISER 2025 Admissions?
A:

The portal for document upload and freezing of IISER preferences for IISER 2025 Admissions can be done in the window period in the month of July 2025, tentatively. After accepting the offer and paying seat acceptance fee, the candidate can exercise two options:

  1. Candidate can FREEZE the seat (they will not participate in further rounds of counselling),
  2. Candidate can FLOAT (they will participate in further rounds of counselling to get their higher preferences). The FLOAT option is activated by default for those who pay the seat acceptance fee. A student who has chosen to FLOAT will be again considered for seat allocation in the next round. If they are eligible to secure a seat in an IISER that is higher in their preference list than the currently accepted one, they will be offered that seat.
Q:   I have forgotten my IISER login password. How do I retrieve that?
A:

In case candidates wish to reset the password, candidates will have to follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the IISER 2025 website

  • Click on the Log in tab

  • Click on 'Reset/Change Password' tab

  • A link will be mailed to the registered email id

  • Click on the link and change/reset the password

IISER 2025: Important Instructions for the Exam Day

  1. Print this Hall Ticket on an A4 size paper using a laser Hall Ticket is valid only if the candidate's photograph and signature images are legibly printed. Paste the photograph at the indicated place. The Hall Ticket is to be produced for verification at the time of the test. This Hall Ticket is valid only for the test date and session time as specified above.
  2. The Hall Ticket is to be produced for verification at the time of the test and at least one original (not scanned) valid (not expired) photo identification card (such as Voter ID, Passport, Pan Card, Driving License, Photo pasted Nationalized Bank Passbook, UID Aadhar Card, Photo pasted 10th/12th Marksheet/Certificate/Admit Card) should also be The candidate's photograph and signature should be legibly printed and visible on the photo ID card and should match the name on Hall Ticket. The Photo ID card should not be damaged or smudged.
  3. In addition to the original Photo ID, students should carry a photocopy of the Kindly be informed that the original copy of this Hall Ticket along with photocopy of photo ID will be collected at the examination hall. Hence you are requested to keep an additional copy of the Hall Ticket for your reference.
  4. Candidates are advised to locate their test centre and its accessibility at least a day before the test so that they can reach the centre on time on the day of the
  5. Candidate should report at 07:00 AM for the session. No candidate will be allowed inside the test centre after 08:30 AM. PwD Candidates will get priority entry into the test centre.
  6. There is no facility for safekeeping of your personal belongings outside the test hall and the test organizers will not be responsible for its loss. Only Hall Ticket, Original Photo ID Card, Transparent Water Bottle & Ball Pen (only Blue or Black) will be allowed inside the test hall.
  7. Rough pad/ Sheet(s) will be provided to the candidates for rough work, which will have to be returned after the Candidates should clearly write their name and application number on the rough pad. An online non-programmable scientific calculator will be provided on the candidate's console. Please do not carry your own calculator.
  8. Friends and relatives accompanying the candidate will not be allowed inside the test

With a 7,000 rank in the SC category, admission to any IISER (including newer campuses) is not possible as per 2025 cutoffs. Cutoff ranks for SC category in IISERs generally close between 125 (most competitive) and 750 (least competitive).
