IIT Bombay MTech Eligibility & Highlights 2026
IIT Bombay MTech programme is offered for two years in 39 specialisations under 18 departments. Admission to the course is entrance-based. The technology institute accepts scores of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Some of the specialisations offered under the MTech course are Computer Science & Engineering, Electronic Systems, Biomedical Engineering, etc. The institute offers dual degree courses as well, such as BTech + MTech and MTech + PhD.
IIT Bombay MTech admission is granted based on scores in the GATE exam, followed by COAP counselling. Moreover, there is no upper age limit and no restrictions on the number of attempts for the GATE exam. Aspirants of the PG course must fulfil the following entry requirements:
Eligibility Criteria: BE/ BTech or other valid UG degree from a recognised university, passed with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ ST/ PwD category).

STEP 1: IIT Bombay MTech Application Process 2026
The mode of the IIT Bombay application process is online. Candidates must apply on the official website of the respective entrance exams to become eligible for any of the courses. For MTech courses, candidates must register on the official websites of GATE and COAP. Further, aspirants also need to register at the official website of the institute as per the steps below:

IIT Bombay BTech Application Process 2026
BTech and BTech (Dual Degree) aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in).
Entrance Exams
Candidates need to first qualify JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced. Aspirants qualifying both the entrance-exams are required to register for Counselling.
JoSAA Counselling & Seat Allotment
Shortlisted candidates after registering for JoSAA Counselling are offered seat. The seat allotment is conducted after the release of cutoff.
IIT Bombay admission to all the courses is entrance-based (Except for EMBA, where admission is merit-based and performance in the interview round). Yes, IIT Bombay offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to UG students. It is awarded to a maximum of 25% of sanctioned intake. For Dual degree, it is available only up to fourth year.
Merit Criterion: For new entrants of BDes their UCEED Rank, will be the criterion. In subsequent years, the criterion will be their academic performance during the preceding academic year.
