JMI Entrance Exam BPT, Diploma Courses Counselling 2026 Seat Allotment: Check Dates, Fees & Procedure

The JMI Entrance Exam counselling dates have not been unannounced yet. The exam body may inform examinees about the counselling schedule on their contact details as provided during the applications. Candidates will have to appear for the counselling at the concerned department along with the relevant documents.

The difficulty level of the JMI entrance examination is moderate so the cut off is usually not very high.

The JMI application fee will be refunded only if the transaction has failed. If a candidate successfully pays the fee, no refund will be given. So, students must check the eligibility criteria, application form, etc. before filling JMI application form.

Candidates have to apply online to appear in JMI Entrance Exam. The application forms are released on the official website of JMI. Candidates have to first create an account by filling their basic details and then fill the detailed application form, select their course, upload required documents and pay the application fee. The registration window usually remains open for a month.

In case two candidates get same score in the JMI Entrance Exam then a tie braking rule is applied. The tiebreak is done on the basis of date of birth i.e. the older in age candidate is given higher rank. For interview programmes, the candidate securing high marks in written component of entrance test, is given higher rank. If the marks in written component are also same, then date of birth criterion is used i.e. the older in age candidate is given higher rank. This tiebreak rule is applicable for all the programmes except BTech, BArch, BDS and courses where admission will be given through CUET. 

The JMI Entrance Exam cutoff marks are the minimum marks required to pass the test. These are published along with the declaration of the results. The cutoff marks vary from programme to programme. The cutoff marks for some programmes from past cycles of the exam are provided below. This will give aspirants an idea of the required score. 

BA Hons Psychology - 47 (General Cutoff), 40.50 (For Muslim examinees)

BA/ BSc Hons Geography - 42.25 (General Cutoff), 37.50 (For Muslim examinees)

MA Public Administration - 51 (General Cutoff), 45 (For Muslim examinees)

MA Sociology - 61.50  (General Cutoff), 52.25 (For Muslim examinees)

No, the counseling sessions are held on different days for all the programmes offered by Jamia Millia Islamia. Admission to all Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Post Graduate Diploma, Diploma and Certificate programs offered by the University is done through entrance test and counselling. University releases the subject-wise counselling schedule along with the result. To participate in the counselling, candidates have to reach the concerned department with all the required documents and admission fee. The seat is allotted to the candidate after the verification of documents and payment of the admission fee. Candidates must check the website of JMI from time to time to know the detailed schedule of counseling.

Candidates who will qualify the exam, will be required to participate in the counselling process of JMI Entrance Exam. Notably, candidates will have to complete the counselling process on the same day and time. Completion of the counselling process will lead to the seat locked by the candidates. Whereas, if a candidate is unable to complete the counselling process or pay the admission fee on the due date the seat will be provided to another candidate. Therefore, candidates must follow all the necessary steps to take admission in the university after the result.

To get a refund by withdrawing admission at JMI, students have to submit an application to their faculty. The university allows admission withdawl for a limited time only. Once the admission withdrawl application is successfully processed, the applicant will get a refund after deduction (if any). The refund process at JMI usually takes three to four weeks.

No, interview is conducted only for some courses of Jamia Millia Islamia. Along with the declaration of result, JMI releases the detailed admission process. The university schedules the interview for certain courses such as Mass Media, Mass Communication and Acting. Shortlisted candidates are required to appear for the interview as per their serial number. After the interview is over a merit list is released and selected candidates are called for counselling. For rest of all Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, PG Diploma courses of the University, the shortlisted candidates in the written test are directly called for the counselling.

Candidates need to appear in the CUET UG exam to get admission in some of the undergraduate courses of Jamia Millia Islamia. These courses are: B.Tech, B.Arch B.A. (Hons) Persian, B.A. (Hons) Urdu, B.A. (Hons) (History), B.A. (Hons. ). French and Francophone Studies, B.A. (Hons. ). Spanish and Latin American Studies, B.A. (Hons) (Economics), B.Voc (Solar Energy) (Self Financed), B.Sc. (Hons) Physics B.Sc. (Hons) Chemistry B.Sc. (Hons) ( Applied) Mathematics), B.Sc. (Biotechnology).

JMI selection criteria includes shortlisting of candidates on the basis of scores obtained in JMI exam. For some courses candidates are required to also appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The cut off for each course is released after the selection procedure is over and candidates are called for counselling and document verification. Candidates should go through the selection process mentioned in the e prospectus of JMI for their respective course.
