This college is very satisfying and has good placements for all branches.
Placements: The placement percentage is 82 percent in the mechanical branch, with the highest package of 82 LPA, average package of 13 LPA, and the lowest package of 3-4 LPA. 200+ companies, including Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Sony, Swiggy, Emerson, are secured by a large share of students with companies.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in the hostel, it is not available in classrooms. There are AC classrooms. There is no problem with Airtel net, it is available in labs, classrooms, and hostel. 3 members per room. A large central library with thousands of volumes is available as a resource.
Faculty: Faculty encourages participation in projects and research. Pass percentage is very high, and very rarely are failures due to less attendance. There are mid-term and end-term examinations. For first years, all branches are mixed and divided in the 2nd year. If their CGPA is above 9, they can change their branch.

Good infrastructure and placement opportunities with support.
Placements: I am from the 2022 batch of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Around 40% of the students were placed, with the highest package being 12LPA, and the lowest of 3.5 3.5LPA. Top recruiters included Infosys, TCS, Mathworks, Accenture, etc.
Infrastructure: The ECE department has a well-equipped campus and a central library with a wide range of technical resources. The hostel provides 24/7 water and electricity, though the mess food is average. Medical assistance is available on campus, and student assistance is available on campus. Students have access to various sports and recreation facilities.
Faculty: The teachers were helpful, well-qualified and explained concepts clearly with practical insights. The course curriculum is relevant and includes industry-oriented subjects that help students develop technical and analytical skills. Semester exams are moderately difficult, and the overall pass percentage is around 85 - 90%.
Other: I chose Electronics and Communication Engineering because it offers a strong foundation in both software and hardware.

Very satisfied with college faculty members and there are good placements.
Placements: As I am studying in 2nd year I haven't talked with our super seniors completely. But I asked once they told me placements in our college in the last year were terrible compared to other years. The highest package is 32 LPA. The lowest package is 7 LPA, and average is 10 LPA. Top recruiters of our college are TCS and Wipro.
Infrastructure: We have no Wi-Fi in addition we have jammers to block the network. Labs are well-designed and maintained properly. Classrooms are really good with projectors including clear board, nice ventilation, and very comfortable. Library is also very good having many books.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful to us. They have nice qualifications and are friendly when teaching us. They also help us in lab practical very well. Curriculum is relevant and does help in keeping students industry-ready. Exams are really tough but you could pass if you study well.

B.Tech. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering - Batch of 2029

As in every college, there is something that you will not like, but you have to take.
Placements: In my branch this year in 2025, 93.4 % of students got placed in various job roles, with the highest as 25 LPA, average, and median is approximately 9 LPA. Top recruiting companies in the core are JSW, Vedanta, Tata Steel, etc. A few students from my department got internships as well. Top roles offered in the core field and in the noc core as SDE, etc. As most of the students got placed in my branch, it is a good thing when we talk about CSE ECE, they have really good packages this year. 8 students got 80 LPA job offers from Apple India, mainly from the CSE branch.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is well maintained here at NIT Durgapur, I must say, all facilities such as Wi-Fi, labs, classroom, library, and more than what we expect. In my hostel, we got three-seater rooms, but they are spacious and you will definitely love your big room. Washrooms are also well maintained, they keep them clean on a regular basis. Water cooler on each floor, you will have both options for normal water and cold water. Mess food is good, seriously, I personally feel it is good, you can eat it easily. If you are a non-vegetarian, then congrats.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable and definitely they are well-qualified. The course curriculum is relevant, and teachers help us in every aspect. As we talk about semester exams, they are neither easy nor hard if you prepare well, even if you have a few days of exam, you will get a decent score. Pass percentage is, as usual 35%.
Other: I got enrolled in the metallurgical and material engineering branch because my rank was that high only. But I am satisfied with my course, and Durgapur is known for industry, so for our branch, it is a plus point. All things are running smoothly, no need to improve. We have a cultural fest, Aarohan, which is held in the month of October.

My college life and my 4 years.
Placements: In my college, around 885 of students were placed during the placement season, the highest package is 51 LPA till now, and the lowest package is around 10 LPA, the average package is 11 LPA, and the median is 9 LPA. Top companies are Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, etc. Many students also got internship offers. Roles like data analyst, software engineer, software developer, and core companies also give good roles and offers.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure for my course is good. My course is Electrical Engineering, and the department is good. The lab infrastructure is also very good, and the hostel is very good. The mess food is good but very much. In my college, we have a sports complex which is good.
Faculty: First of all, the professors of the college are not that bad, they are good and very helpful towards students. They are approachable and very much supportive of students and for any other reasons also. They try their best on their side to give the best output.
Other: I chose this course because I like it and also because of my rank. This is a pretty good and hard course. Because Electrical Engineering is hard, we have to do our best every day for a bright future.
