Placements: All students are placed in my branch. Last year, the highest package offered in my branch was 51 LPA, and the lowest salary was 3.3 LPA. The median salary is 10.5 LPA. The average salary is 13.62 LPA. Total job offers are 101. This is all about the electrical branch. Top recruiters are Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Analog Devices, Qualcomm, TCS, Wipro, PhonePe, etc.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure of NIT Rourkela is amazing. We have two lecture halls and all classrooms have AC facility. We have a central library where Wi-Fi is available 24X7. We have well-maintained labs. Hostel facilities are really amazing. We have separate hostels for 1st year students. There are 2 students in one room. We have gym, study room, tv room, music room, night canteen, day canteen, and stationery available inside the hostel. Mess food is not that much good but okay. We have 3 badminton courts, 2 volleyball courts, 3 table tennis courts, etc. We have a dispensary on the campus for medical facilities.

Faculty: Teachers are good. They are interactive and helpful. All are well qualified and they have good knowledge about their subject. Definitely, this course is much relevant. Semester exams are not that much difficult, students can pass easily. But they have to study because the chance of cheating is 0%.

Other: Everything is good. We have a very green and large campus which is second-largest engineering college in India after IIT KPG in terms of area but one thing that I don't like is the attendance policy. We have to manage 85% attendance which is high.

Good social exposure, but dissatisfied location, great faculty, and people.

Placements: Placements are good. The batch size is roughly 114, but yes, all students have different fields of focus. Some pursue higher studies, etc., with guidance from the placement committee. Offers are available both on-campus and off-campus, and the alumni network is also strong. In the first year, it’s not allowed to contact seniors, but afterward, you have great exposure to them through meetings and clubs.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of some hostels is good, while that of others is not. The LAN connection is great, but the food quality is poor and not very helpful; however, the day and night canteens are lifesavers. There are excellent facilities such as a central swimming pool and a central gym, and each hostel also has its gym, with maintenance occurring every week.

Faculty: Adopting the new education policy highly emphasizes skills and development rather than just memorization. However, the tests are tough with a 0% chance of cheating due to the recently installed CCTV and the supportive environment for studying. The central library provides almost every book, most of which are old but still sufficient.

Other: With 1,200 acres of campus and multiple branches, such as EC, EI, and AI, which have recently been added, there is a huge student population. Events are frequently hosted, including cultural events and hackathons. The campus is surrounded by mountains, allowing for exploration. All the more often, the campus consists of mountains in it, so you can travel it without going out.

Review of NIT Rourkela - National Institute of Technology.

Placements: The placements in the college are good. Many big companies come here for recruitment. The average package is around 20 LPA. Almost every student in my branch gets a placement. Not unnecessarily in the core. But in various fields. The highest package even went for around 1.25 crore rupees that too a domestic one.

Infrastructure: There are two lecture complexes having classrooms and all department buildings have separate classrooms as well, the Wi-Fi speed is okay but many things are blocked on Wi-Fi. The library is huge with three floors and a lift, with an AC and all classrooms have centralized AC. The hostel rooms are very small and a double sharing room. In the room, you get a fan, tube light, a bedtable, and a chair. The mess food is not so good but eatable. The hostel has its own gym, music room, reading room, canteens, etc.

Faculty: Some teachers are good while some are okay. The curriculum is good and has almost same syllabus like any other government engineering college. The exams are a bit easy, a few might be tough which a certain percentage of students fails to pass. Yes the teachers are knowledgeable.

Other: I chose this course because this was the best course I was getting according to my JEE Main rank. The schedule here is kind of hectic and rules and regulations are strict here. Management could work on this. There are several fests like cosmopolitan the cultural fest, the teach fest, nitrutsav the multi-ethnic fest, etc. Many big personalities come to campus during the fests.

College is overrated be prefer only if you're in that region. Students are great, peers good minds.

Placements: I am not sure about the current year, but according to previous year data, 95%+ students in the electrical batch are placed. However, the LPA is not as impressive as in the IT sector or semiconductor companies. I would say the average is around 50 students who got 30 LPA and above, 10-11 students got 50 LPA and above, 1 student got 1.2 crores, and 3 students got 98 LPA last year.

Infrastructure: Hostels are great, and food is also available with both veg and non-veg options. There is a separate mess for pure veg and Jain people with only a veg menu. I eat there, and the food quality is great. The infrastructure for electrical engineering is average, not great for inventions or projects, but all that is required for the course is available.

Faculty: Not all faculty members are non-cooperative, and they mostly help their regional students. Other students are ones who have to suffer more. The curriculum is hectic, with 85% attendance required, and exams are easy. There is no relative marking, so you can decide accordingly.

Other: I did all that in the above reviews, but I would like to add something if the attendance criteria were lower, it would be better, and adding some more new-generation courses would be beneficial.

NIT Rourkela is a gate of success.

Placements: Approximately 90-100% of students get placed. Some branches have 100% placements in CSE, mining, etc. Placements of this institution are 100% every year. There are a lot of job offers like Google, Microsoft, and Apple, which provide an opportunity to our institute students. There are many clubs that build our overall personality.

Infrastructure: NIT Rourkela has a total of 12 hostels. It has 7 boys hostels, 3 girls hostels and 2 hostels for married students. The hostel rooms are good but a little bit smaller and congested. Every hostel offers some games and sports grounds like a badminton court, volleyball court, basketball court, table tennis, etc. The mess food is also good and tasty along with a wide range of items on the menu. It offers breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner with both non-vegetarian and vegetarian options. The hostel has a Wi-Fi facility. Overall, the infrastructure is good.

Faculty: The course I opted for is electrical engineering. Although, the course curriculum is vast. They have broken down everything into credits. Each semester, they take mid-semester exams and end-sem evaluation exams and give marks as per the credit. Apart from engineering-based subjects, topics like ethics, biology electrochemistry, and quantum physics are taught to students to increase their problem-solving skills and ultimately make them tackle real-world problems. Faculty members are very good, especially in my department. They ensure students are getting burdened with course pressure, etc. The class size is 129.

Other: I chose this course because in Jossa counseling I got this course. My dream course is CSE. My campus life is going absolutely amazing. The institute crowd is not too much. We have around 7,000 people on campus and the size of the campus is quite large. No, I am not in any club because I want to focus on academics in 1st year but there are many clubs in my institution related to many fields like music, dancing, robotics, machine learning, etc. I usually attend fests. Fests are very good.

Your prospects aren't too high if you are a candidate domiciled outside Orissa.
