IIT Delhi has a total number of 13 hostels (11 for boys and 2 for girls) that are tabulated below. Each hostel that is named after hills – ranges of India has students from all years and is self-contained with various amenities such as a reading room, an indoor games room, a lounge, and a dining hall with a mess. Internet facilities are provided in all the rooms. Xeroxing facilities and STD/ISD/PCO facilities are also provided by the institute in all the hostels.

IIT Delhi Hostel Rules
- After signing an inventory of the room's furniture, electrical equipment, and other contents, a student will check in with the hostel's caretaker or another official designated by the warden and take ownership of their room.
- At the conclusion of each semester, students are required to evacuate their rooms and turn over control of them to the caretaker or another official of the hostel who has been given the warden's approval. This includes all things listed on the inventory.
- Any student who wants to keep his room over the break must get permission in advance from the Associate Dean (Hostel Management).
- Any act of intimidation or violence, willful damage to property, or inebriated and rowdy behavior constitutes an infraction.
- The Hostel dues shall be paid in accordance with the BHM's instructions.
- It is strictly forbidden to possess or use drugs, consumes alcohol, or engage in gambling.
- Using audio equipment in hostels is only permitted if it doesn't bother other guests.
- Before having any visitors remain in the hostel for a period of up to five days, the hostel warden must give their previous consent. In some circumstances, the warden may refuse permission. Ask the Associate Dean (Hostel Management) for approval if you want to stay for a longer amount of time.
- Up until two in the morning, students are permitted to see one another in the hostels' designated common spaces.
- With permission from the warden, a student's parents may visit their child in their room.
- From eight in the morning until eight in the evening, a student may amuse visitors or other family members in the hostel's visitors' room.
- If a resident needs to leave the hostel after 11:00 p.m. for work, it is advised that they do so after making the proper entries in the entry/exit register with information like their name, entry number, the reason they are leaving, the name of the lab or computer centre, the time they left the hostel, and the time they are anticipated to return. When they come back, they can update the same register with the actual time.
Hostels’ Rooms
There will be another person assigned to share a two-seater hostel room with you. Our luggage can be stored in an almirah in the room, which can be decorated in whatever we desire. The room is furnished with only the bare necessities. Coolers filled with water are permitted inside the room throughout the summer. The Wi-Fi and LAN connections in every hostel are great. Each floor has a supply of drinking water and all the necessary amenities, including a kitchen and laundry rooms. The majority of hostels also include air-conditioned common areas like TV rooms and visiting rooms, as well as a gym, basketball courts, shuttle courts, and other sports. Aside from facilities for table tennis, pool, and other indoor diversions, each hostel provides practice nets for cricket.
Hostels’ Mess
Students from all cultural backgrounds will enjoy the tasty fare at the hostel mess. The majority of the food on the menu is vegetarian, while occasionally non-vegetarian options are provided for a fee. Self-cooking options are unavailable. To save our appetites, IITD has a variety of culinary establishments located all across campus. Outside of campus, there are eateries that provide delicious food, so you can indulge in fine cuisine.
Commonly asked questions
JEE Main counselling schedule is released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority after the declaration of the JEE Main result. The counselling shall be conducted in the months of June and July, tentatively. There seat allotment process is carried out through JoSAA counselling. Students securing the required marks in JEE Advanced become eligible for participation in counselling for admission to NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs including IIT Delhi.
The IIT Delhi campus is spread across 325 acres. It is divided into four areas for administrative and logistical purposes. Thus, the campus has a West Campus (hostel area), East campus (residential area), Main Administrative Building and Academic area. IIT Delhi infrastructure advancements and operations are taken care by a dedicated Infrastructure team that works under the administrative unit. In addition, it also keeps coming up with new projects for the advacement of the IIT Delhi infrastructure.
Yes, some of the hostels of IIT Delhi are air-conditioned. However, non-air-conditioned hostels are also available. The hostels are allotted to the students based on availability. Some lecture theatres are also air-conditioned. Apart from this, some common areas on the campus or hostel also have air conditioning or air coolers.
