Review on IIEST Shibpur in my view overall.

Placements: 60-70% were placed. The highest package in our college is 51 Lacs per annum. The lowest is 4 Lacs per annum. The median package offered in our college is 7 Lacs per annum. 60% of students got internships in my course at companies like Caterpillar, ISRO. Many students from this department move towards higher studies.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our campus is old. It is not better compared to other NITs. There are 3 hostels available for girls. A 1000-seater hostel is under construction for boys. Wi-Fi is available in the hostel. Among the 3 hostels, 1 is for freshers.

Faculty: Yes, teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Their way of teaching is good. There are 2 exams in 1 semester. They are divided into mid-semester examination and end-semester examination. In the mid-term, half of the syllabus comes in the examination, but in the end-semester examination, the full syllabus will come.

Other: I chose this course because I want to be an aircraft engineer in the future. The best things in my course are that we can gain knowledge about space, aircraft, and many other things related to our daily life. At IIEST Shibpur, there are many events, fests, and programs organized by the whole IIEST Shibpur community.

Dissatisfied because of poor facility for cricket.

Placements: The placements in AE & AM are too low, as many come here to do research. This year, 2 to 3 seniors got placed and their packages were about 30 to 40 LPA. So, for research in AE and AM, it is preferable; otherwise, not. Although, I don't have a proper idea as I am in my 1st year.

Infrastructure: Washrooms are not proper. The food was also too bad. As you find every day (every meal) potato, even at breakfast. For South Indians, they will suffer a lot, as there will be no spice in the food. It's not good for sports either, as there is one ground for cricket and football. However, since it is in Bengal, football dominates.

Faculty: Teaching is not bad. However, we don't have good experience as I am still in my 1st year. The 1st-year curriculum is the same for all branches as branch change is available. The course curriculum is not bad. Some of the faculty are not worthy as they don't teach, just read books like Moral.

Other: The faculty on this campus is better than those in IIT KGP, which has been said by our seniors.

Finally, after refining the course and placement process, we achieve satisfactory results.

Placements: From my knowledge, 55 to 60% of students are recruited in our department. The highest package is around 15–17 LPA, and the lowest is around 5–6 LPA. Our top recruiters for placements and internships include HAL, DRDO, ISRO, and many others. About 80 to 90% of students get internships and secure roles in companies like designers, scientists, engineers, and so on.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college preserves the legacy and heritage of the building and the view of the British era, along with the new buildings. It also features many beautiful lakes, a swimming pool, a gym, a garden, a playground for different sports, and a club space for various clubs. The library is a wonderful facility with many books that are accessible to all students. The Wi-Fi in hostels, which includes around 20 hostels and halls, is excellent. The food in the hostels is also good, and students can monitor everything in the hostels.

Faculty: There is no doubt that teachers are truly brilliant, supportive, and highly qualified, with a wealth of experience, research work, and expertise. Their delivery is also effective, and whenever there is any confusion, whether in class or in their cabins, they are available to help you out. They support you in securing internships and placements through their connections and help guide your progress in life. The semester examinations are average, not too difficult. Our professors provide notes and explain them in class.

Other: I chose this course because I have been passionate about it since childhood. I aspire to build my professional career around it. To improve the course, more industrial components could be incorporated, and minor adjustments to the course structure could potentially enhance the placement rate in the coming years. Despite this, the current curriculum is very engaging. This course is exclusively offered by NIT, making its knowledge unique. Campus life at NIT is excellent. It has a wide range of activities available, such as various clubs, semester-long events including technical, cultural, and departmental fests, and lively celebrations of festivals. The college offers scholarships based on factors such as financial need and disability, benefiting a large number of students each year.

Overall, it is a good college in Howrah.

Placements: Students got good placements compared to many NITs. Many of them got jobs at famous companies around the world. Core placements and placements in the IT sector also went very well. With the advantage of strong alumni at this college, job offers and placements will increase.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is a little old, but the classrooms are well-maintained. The hostel has many facilities, like Wi-Fi. We can decide our menu according to the mess manager elected, and staff members are cooperative. Many sports items were provided to play all types of sports.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified. They are helpful with our doubts about their subjects. The course is relevant. It makes us industry-ready at the end of the fourth year. Semester exams were difficult. The questions were tough. The minimum pass percentage was around 30%.

Placements: Placements were lacking in the department. Still, if you are eligible to do great, you can achieve anything you want from college, not only academically but also on other sides. In the future, companies will definitely come as it is a developing branch in India too.

Infrastructure: Hostel food is quite good, and hostel rooms are normal compared to other renowned colleges. Our college infrastructure is great. Mess and canteens are quite worthy of money, and sports and games are also the best. You can find whatever you need for healthy entertainment.

Faculty: Exams are conducted in a very disciplined manner. The great thing is you would judge yourself whether you are learning or not. Faculty members are overall good, and the aerospace department gives the environment in which you can improve yourself and your skills.

Other: I have chosen this stream because I am passionate about it. It has the potential to give you a prosperous college life, and the campus is lush green.

Review of IIEST Shibpur - Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology.

Placements: IIEST Shibpur placements for the academic year of 2019-20 had been successful as 511 students got placed in 111 reputed companies with a good salary package. Under the UG level, the institute offers placements under the B.Tech, B.Arch, and dual degree programs. Placements are comparatively pretty decent. The average salary package offered ranges from 6-7 LPA. About 85-90% of the students get placement here. The highest salary package offered is 27 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 4 LPA. Companies like TCS, Capgemini, Tata Steel, TCS Ninja, etc., visit our college for placements. A lot of students got internships in the above-mentioned companies. Many of the students also got placed in the IT sector as they worked on their coding skills.

Infrastructure: The food served in the hostel is quite good. The hostel rooms are normal compared to other renowned colleges. Our college infrastructure is great. Mess and canteens are quite worthy of money.

Faculty: All the professors are PhD holders and knowledgeable. They give their best. There is a very good research environment. The courses curriculum design might be a bit old, but changes are being made to make students industry-ready. Semester exams are a bit difficult.

A good college which just needs time to become an excellent one.

Placements: The placement records have improved this year. However, many placement drives are yet to be organised here. This year the highest salary package offered was about 39 LPA by Microsoft IDC. But no core company visited the campus to hire the students of the aerospace department because most of the core aerospace companies ask for an M.Tech degree as the minimum qualification. There is a lot of scope for improvement.

Infrastructure: Since this college gained it's INI status quite recently, the infrastructure is still under development. However, civil and mechanical departments have well-equipped labs. The mining department is also considered as one of the best in the country. The aerospace department is the newest addition here, so it requires a lot of improvement. However, we have a good lab for fluid mechanics. Hostels are good for the first year and senior year students. Hall system is followed here. The way the seminar hall runs is up to the students, but the hostels still lack some basic necessities and should be looked after properly.

Faculty: Our faculty members are highly qualified in their respective fields but what I have personally noticed is that they are so much engrossed in their personal research and don't work on their teaching methods. The methods are quite old and tedious. However, some new professors who are being appointed are trying to include new methods in the curriculum. In the aerospace department, we have renowned professors like Dr Amitava Ghosh, Dr Ak Ghosh, and Dr SK Some etc.

Are the placements good for UG aerospace engineering?

I am a student of the institute and as far as I know the placements re good overall for the college but for aerospace it is moderate. You need to sit for other companies as well rather than hoping to get in the core companies.

Hi, I am sorry but this is a National Institute of Eminence and held in rank with other NITs and IITs. So, I, being a student of the same would like to inform you that no lateral entry from other colleges are entertained or possible in IIEST. Unlike any private college.
