The IIT Kharagpur at its best.

Placements: For B.Tech students, there are 100% placements. You will also have the opportunity to go abroad to continue your higher study. The package offered is around 8-10 lacs per annum for M.Tech, but it can reach as high as 30 lacs for certain companies. Lots of international well-renowned companies do their compassing. Overall, you will get lots of opportunities to place yourself.

Infrastructure: The facilities are very good here. You will have free Wi-Fi facility in the hostel as well as in department. Labs are well-equipped too. You can avail the facilities like XRD, SEM, TEM, hall measurements, etc. You can synthesise your samples in your lab. The labs and classrooms are clean and air-conditioned too. Here, on our campus, we have a hospital, doctor checkup and medicine are free for the students. There is a gym that is well-equipped. Overall, you will get one of the best facilities in India.

Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and helpful. They will always help you when you have any doubts. They will always let you do whatever you want to do in your project from your idea. Obviously, they will help you also when it is necessary. As a material science student, you will study semiconductor physics, polymer science, and ceramics in your course. It will also teach you how to characterise your material or sample during your course of study. In PhD, you have to go through under coursework where you will learn everything you require throughout your PhD. All the facilities are highly qualified and experienced. They all have done at least two postdocs. Overall, you will come to know lots of things.

Other: The campus life is excellent. The campus spreads over 2100 acres campus. Spring fest of IIT Kharagpur is famous that happens every year during winter. There is a swimming pool, lots of events, inter-hall cricket, football, and tennis tournaments are conducted. You can practice these sports here, you will get all the facilities.

Candidate must have secured the above-mentioned marks in all years of the qualifying degree OR b) awarding degree based on aggregate marks secured in the final two semesters or final year of the qualifying degree: Minimum of 60% marks (OR a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale) SC/ST/PwD: Minimum of 55% marks (OR a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale). or Applicants whose results in the qualifying degree examination are yet to be declared will be provisional, subject to the condition that all parts of the examination must be completed in all respects before the date of joining the Institute and the marksheet/certificate as evidence of passing the qualifying examination is to be submitted latest by October 31, 2025. B. Tech students who graduated/graduating from IITs having a CGPA of 8.00 or above (out of 10) are eligible for direct admission without having to appear in either GATE.

Candidates should be among top 250000 successful candidates including all categories in BE/BTech paper of JEE (Main) 2025. Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. 5 years age relaxation is given to SC/ ST/ PwD candidates. Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2024 can appear in JEE Advanced. Applicants who were allocated a seat in an IIT through JoSAA but did not report OR withdrew before the last round of seat allotment OR had their seat cancelled before the last round of seat allotment for IITs are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
