Yes, IIT Kharagpur does accept GATE scores for admission to its M.Tech programme. Applicants must have a valid GATE score relevant to the discipline of their qualifying degree. In cases where there is no specific GATE paper available for a particular discipline, XE/XL/XH papers of the GATE examination can be considered. GATE is the accepted entrance exam for admission to IIT Kharagpur's M.Tech programme.

IIT Kharagpur offers a joint MTech/ MCP PhD programme to students who have completed their UG degree in the relevant stream. Under this programme, at the end of the first year, interested students with a CGPA of 8.0 and above are eligible to appear for a written test and/or interview to check their suitability to enrol for PhD. Those who do not qualify for PhD can continue with their two-year MTech/MCP programme. Students selected for PhD will have to complete the two-year academic requirements of MTech/ MCP programme before enrolment for PhD. For these students, the MTech/MCP and PhD degrees will be awarded together upon successful completion of PhD. The programme is open to students of all categories with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ MSc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE, etc.) with a valid GATE score.

IIT Kharagpur offers BTech (Hons.) in CSE course based on JEE Advanced scores. Among all the courses, CSE remained the most demanded course over the years. Considering the IIT Kharagpur cutoff 2024, the CSE last-round cutoff stood at 415 for the General AI category candidates. Comparing the 2024 CSE cutoff with previous year, an increase in the CSE cutoff has been seen in 2024. To get admission to IIT Kharagpur for BTech(Hons)/BS based on JEE Advanced, candidates must have a valid rank in the exam as per the cutoff list. IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 has concluded with the release of the final round.

The last round cutoff ranks among the General AI category candidates varied between 466 and 19141. Therefore, to get admission to the college irrespective of the course specialisation, candidates must have a rank of 19141 or below if belonging to the General AI category. If the student is interested in top branches such as CSE, then the target must be below 466.
