IIT Madras MTech Eligibility & Highlights 2025
IIT Madras offers an MTech course at the postgraduate level in a full-time mode. The duration of this programme is two years. The institute offers 26 MTech specialisations along with three interdisciplinary specialisations for BE/ BTech graduates across 13 departments. Some of these specialisations include, MTech in Computer Science and Engineering, MTech in Biomedical Engineering, MTech in Aerospace Engineering, etc.
IIT Madras MTech admission 2025 is based on a valid GATE score obtained by eligible candidates. The seat allotment process is then carried out through COAP Counselling. Based on the GATE score, the merit list is prepared by the board and then seats are offered based on the availability of seats at the institute. On acceptance of the seats through the COAP portal, candidates can reserve their seats by paying admission fees to the institute. Given below is the IIT Madras MTech eligibility criteria:

For admission to IIT Madras, candidates must pass Class 12 and graduation before applying for the course. As per the minimum eligibility requirements for the course, candidates need a BE/BTech/BArch degree or a master's in Science/Arts with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST/PwD). Qualifications from exams by recognised professional societies are also accepted. Further, candidates will be selected based on a valid GATE score.
Apart from this, candidates who graduated from IITs with BTech degree and having CGPA of 8.0 (on a scale of 10) and above are eligible to apply for direct admission without GATE score. STEP 1: IIT Madras MTech Application Process 2025
The institute accepts GATE scores for admission to the MTech programme. Follow the steps given below to fill out the GATE application form.
Step 1.1: Register on the GOAPS website.
Step 1.2: To fill out the GATE 2024 application form online, candidates had to log in to the official website of GOAPS using their credentials.
Step 1.3: Fill out the application form with all the mandatory details.
Step 1.4: After filling out the online application form, candidates have to pay the GATE 2024 application fees.
Step 1.5: Take a printout of the application form for future use.
IIT Madras MTech Application Process: Important Documents
Some of the important documents required during the IIT Madras MTech application are as follows:

IIT Madras MTech Placements 2024
According to media reports, 1,091 students were placed in phase I and phase II of 2023-24 placements. More than 75% of Master's degree students have been placed till April 30, 2024. In addition to this, out of 300 PPOs offered 235 were accepted. The total count of the participating companies stood at 256. Furthermore, 44 international offers were made. The IIT Madras average package and median package for the 2024 batch stood at INR 22 LPA and INR 19.60 LPA, respectively.
Earlier, in 2023, IIT Madras placement concluded with 1,612 offers from more than 480 companies. The IIT Madras MTech highest package offered during IIT Madras placements in 2023 stood at INR 54.21 LPA.

The last date for the GATE 2024 registration was October 20 with late fees. The last date for GATE 2024 registration without late fees was October 12. GATE 2024 application form was available online on the IISc Bangalore official website. GATE 2024 registration link is gate2024.iisc.ac.in. The registration window opened on August 30, 2023. Candidates can apply for the GATE exam until the last date. Before filling out the GATE application form, it is advisable for the candidates to check the eligibility criteria. In case a candidate fails to fulfill any of the GATE exam eligibility conditions, then his or her candidature will be cancelled and he or she will not be able to download his or her GATE admit card for 2024. IISc Bangalore conducted the GATE 2024 exam on February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024. The GATE 2024 application form was released on 24th August 2024 on the official website at gate.iisc.ac.in. The organising institute for GATE 2024 was IISc Bangalore. The exam was conducted online as a computer-based test for 29 papers. Candidates had to solve 65 questions in 180 minutes (3 hours).
