NIRF 2025 Rankings are out. As per the latest NIRF 2025 rankings, IIT BHU ranks 31 under the 'Overall' category, 22 under the 'Research Institutions' category, and 10 under the 'Engineering' category.
QS World University Rankings 2026 have been released. According to the same, IIT BHU ranks at #566 under the category 'World Universities'.
The GATE 2026 exam is underway for admission to ME/MTech and PhD courses, with the next sessions scheduled for Feb 14, 2026 and Feb 15, 2026.
A few more updates are given below:
- The JEE Advanced 2026 application form is expected to be released in April 2026, and the examination will be conducted on May 17, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 registrations for session 2 started for IIT BHU admission to the BTech, BArch and BPlan courses. The last date to register for the same is Feb 25, 2026. Further, the session 2 exams will be conducted from Apr 2 to Apr 9, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 admit cards can now be downloaded from the official portal for admission to the MSc course. Further, the IIT JAM exam 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on Feb 15, 2026.

After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Those who are above the 98th percentile should start preparing for JEE Advanced as soon as possible. IIT Varanasi has released the category-wise cutoffs for various BTech specialisations. For BTech admissions, JEE Advanced is conducted widely by IITs. A JEE Advanced rank of 3000 under OBC category can be considered as the decent rank, however, this rank is insufficient to secure BTech in CSE programme in 2024. Commonly asked questions On Fees Breakdown
The hostel fee at IIT BHU is INR 300 per semester. This fee does not include electricity charges, Gymkhana, Medical, Amenities and other hostel services. A total of INR 5,000 (approx.) needs to be submitted during the admission to get a hostel and other facilities. The institute has 16 hostels for boys and girls separately.

Candidates who have BE/BTech/MSc or equivalent with (a) CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/EWS. Category with valid GATE score BTech from IITs with CGPA of 8.00 without GATE are also eligible for admission. AMIE / Grad. IETE are eligible for the M.Tech programme at IIT BHU.
The dates for JoSAA counselling 2026 choice filling will be announced once the result of JEE Main 2026 is declared. Candidates can fill choices only during the choice filling period. Also, candidates need to lock their choices before the last date.
To be eligible for the M.Tech programme at IIT BHU the aspiring candidates need to have a minimum of 60% in BTech. Aspirants with a score equal to or more than the cutoff also have to go through a counselling round. Once selected, aspirants have to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the institute.
As part of the admission procedure, the prospective candidates must also take a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). However, BTech qualified in IITs with an overall CGPA of 8.00 or above in 10 point scale are exempted with regard to the GATE and are directly eligible to the process. It is also worth mentioning that the minimum eligibility requirements are as well mandatory to the candidates who would like to join IIT BHU MTech programme in 2025.
