- The IIT JAM 2026 exam is now over for admission to the MSc course, with the results expected to be announced on Mar 20, 2026.
- The CSAB Special Counselling 2025 Round 3 has concluded with the announcement of the seat allotment results for admission to BE/BTech courses.
- The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech/PhD courses has concluded. Results are scheduled for release on Mar 19, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 registrations for session 2 started for admission to the BTech, BArch and BPlan courses. The last date to register for the same is Feb 25, 2026. Further, the session 2 exams will be conducted from Apr 2 to Apr 9, 2026.

- Beginning within the mentorship of NIT Silchar for 2 years, NIT Nagaland is known to be among 10 newly approved NITs in the year 2009.
- For the first 2 years, NIT Nagaland operated from the campus of NIT Assam.
- The Institute began its academic year in 2010, with permanent land allocation by January 2012.
- Interestingly, NIT Nagaland conducted its first academic session within the walls of the permanent campus on September 20, 2012.

- Central Library: The Central Library of NIT Nagaland has a collection of over 9,500 books in streams such as Engineering, Basic Sciences, Management, Humanities, and others. No, you can not get into NIT Nagaland's BTech programme without having appeared in JEE Mains. The main selection criteria of the course is scores obtained in the JEE Mains exam only, hence, admission without it is not possible. Participating in the JoSAA counselling is also necessary.
