What Factors Affect NID Cutoff for B.Des?
Some of the factors that affect the NID Cutoff are:
1. NID Score: NID Prelims Score will not impact the NID cutoff for Admission because it is just a qualifying exam this year. It is used by NID to shortlist candidates for NID Mains Exam 2026. So, it will not affect the NID Cutoff 2026.
2. Number of Seats: Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of 1.5x seats. So if there are 500 seats, then 750 candidates will be shortlisted for B.Des Mains Studio Test and Interview.
3. NID Mains Score: NID Mains will carry 100% weightage for Studio Test & NID Interview. NID Studio Test has 60% weightage and Interview will carry 40% weightage. So this exam will be the deciding factor.
4. Difficulty Level of Question Paper: If the exam is difficult, then students will score less and the cutoff will decrease. But if the paper is easy, candidates will score more and the cutoff will be on the higher side.
5. Reservation policy of NIDs: The reservation policy of the different categories given by the government also impacts the NID Cutoff.
6. Campus Preference during NID counselling: NID Cutoff also depends on the college preferred by candidates. NID Ahmedabad has a higher cutoff. One of the factors for this is the high preference of candidates.
