Yes, the candidate is allowed to challenge the draft version of the NIFT answer key.
Objections cannot be filed against the final answer key. The answer key contains the official keys to all the questions asked in the exam.
Objections against the NIFT answer key have to be filed online through the candidate portal. To file objections, the candidate has to pay a fee of INR 200 per objection.
As per a number of students, NIFT 2023 exam was easier compared to previous years. CAT paper in particular was pretty easy but it was lengthy. The GAT paper had a few tricky questions in the Maths section, otherwise the paper was easy. The English section was also easier than the last edition. The GAT paper included a number of paragraph-based questions. Also, the exam included comic strip-based questions that were also easy.
There is no fixed number of mock tests one should take before the NIFT Entrance Exam. A candidate should take at least one mock test daily for the NIFT Entrance Preparation. 10-15 mock tests will really help in preparing for the exam.
NIFT 2025 Exam Analysis
In the Communication Ability & English Comprehension section of NIFT 2025, there were 2 passage-related questions, and the rest were asked from grammar, such as antonyms, synonyms, fill in the blanks. In the Quantitative Ability section, most of the questions belonged to Class 10 Maths and were pretty much doable. In the GK section, questions were based on handloom, fabrics, and embroidery.

Candidates can go through exam analysis and access their performance before the actual results are declared.
The NIFT Situation Test is a hands-on test that B. Des candidates need to appear in after qualifying the written exam. During the Situation Test the candidate has to make a model. Note that the material for making the model will be provided to the candidate inside the exam hall; no other material expect that provided to the candidate is allowed. So, candidates appearing in the Situation Test must not bring any additional materials for the Situation Test. The Situation Test will be evaluated on the spot. It is mandatory for the candidate to draft a write-up explaining the model.

NIFT GAT paper for the M.Des programme include 120 multiple choice questions. The time given for GAT will be 120 minutes. The questions will be set in English and Hindi.

The participating institutes of NIFTs offer a 4-year B.FTech programme. Admission to the programme is based on GAT scores.
- The NIFT GAT question paper for the programme will be approximately 180 minutes and will be bilingual.
- Candidates will have the option to take the exam either in English or Hindi.
- The question type will be multiple-choice.
- The question paper will have a total of 150 questions.
- Questions will be asked from the following FIVE sections - Communication Ability and Comprehension, Case Study, Quantitative Ability, Analytical & Logical Ability, and GK and Current Affairs. The mode of NIFT exam for the GAT paper will be a computer-based test (or CBT).
The allotment of seats for NIFT will be based on the following parameters:
- Choice opted at the time of counseling registration (academic programs + campuses)
- The category of the candidate
- Seat intake in the college opted for admission
- NIFT merit rank of the candidate.
NIFT cutoff for a participating NIFT is the last rank for which admission is offered in for a particular programme and category. This means, if a candidate fails to score a rank equal to or higher than the cutoff rank, they don't get admission. Typically, a higher ranked institute will invite: More applications Higher-ranked candidates This in turn pushes up the cutoff in higher ranked (or popular) institutes. Likewise, a lower-ranked institute will receive comparatively fewer number of applications, and mostly from lower-ranked candidates. This means, cut-off in these institutes are lower making it much easier to get admission.
The National Institute of Technology (NIFT) releases answer keys only for the computer-based GAT test. No answer key are released for the offline-based CAT paper.
Also, the keys are released separately for the B. Des, M.Des B.FTech M.FTech and MFM courses. The key will contain the official answers to the questions asked in the entrance exam.
NTA doesn't allow any objection window against the final key. This means the keys included in the final key are final and officially the correct answers to the questions asked in the GAT exam.
The NTA will release the NIFT 2027 answer key (FINAL) on March 23, 2027 (tentative).
The final key will be released after considering objections filed by the candidate. There is no provision to challenge the final answer key. So, the keys included in the FINAL answer key of NIFT 2027 will be considered the correct and official answers.
