NIFT Result 2026 for Stage 1 exam has been declared today. Candidates can check their NIFT 2026 Stage 1 results using their Application number and date of birth. After the declaration of the NIFT Stage 1 Result, Stage 2 exams will be held. Stage 2 Examination consists of Situation Test/Studio Test and/or a Personal Interview.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology will release the NIFT Final Scorecard/ NIFT Stage 2 Result for candidates who appeared for the Stage 2. The NIFT 2026 Final merit list will be based on the performance of NIFT Creative Ability Test (CAT), NIFT General Ability Test (GAT), Situation Test, and/or Personal Interview.

If a question asked in the NIFT 2026 exam, for any reason, is found to be wrong, then the benefit of marks will be given to only those candidates who attempted the question. On examining the challenges by the subject experts, if it is found that, along with the original answer key, one or more options (s) are correct, then marks will be awarded to all those candidates who have attempted any one of the correct options.
No grievances/ representation about the Answer Key(s) will be entertained after NIFT 2026 results are declared.

How will Tie be resolved in the NIFT Entrance Exam?

The steps to resolve ties in case of NIFT B.Des and M.Des are given below.

Tie in case of NIFT B.Des and M.Des

In case two candidates get equal overall scores, the marks secured in the test(s) with higher weightage will be compared to break the tie. For B. Des./ M. Des. candidates, if the overall scores are equal, the marks obtained in CAT will be considered first. If the marks in CAT are also identical, the GAT marks will be compared.

If a tie still remains based on equal GAT scores for B. Des. / M. Des. candidates, the marks obtained in individual subjects will be compared. The order of the subjects will be:

Analytical and Logical Ability
General Knowledge and Current Affairs

Tie in case of NIFT B.F.Tech., MFM and M.F. Tech

Eligible candidates have to appear in the NIFT 2026 entrance exam to get lateral admission. Admission under lateral entry scheme will be strictly on merit of NIFT 2026 exam, which will include written examination, studio test/ technology aptitude test, and a personal interview.

Candidates selected through lateral entry will join the regular UG students of NIFT in their second year.

The seat intake under this scheme will be displayed on the website prior to seat allocation.

Q: What are NIFT Score accepting colleges other than participating colleges?

There are 19 NIFTs that will accept NIFT 2026 Scores for admission purposes. These institutes are known as participating colleges.

However, in addition to the participating colleges, there are other private colleges that will also consider NIFT 2026 scores for admission to their UG and PG design courses. The candidates are urged to go through the list of result-sharing institutes.
