When will NIFT cutoff be released?

The National Instituite of Fashion Technology will release the NIFT 2026 at the time of seat allotment and counseling. The cut-offs will be available institute and category-wise for all the program at nift.admissions.nic.in. The cut-offs will be prepared by considering factors like the seat intake, the merit rank of candidates, admission category, etc. Note that if the seat intake is increase the cut-off would likely go down and vice versa. I have failed to meet NIFT 2026 cut-off in previous rounds. Will I get admission?

NIFT 2026 counseling process will be conducted online and will have multiple rounds. In the previous edition of the exam, three regular rounds, followed by a SPOT round, of seat allotment were conducted. If you meet the cut-off in any of these rounds, you will be considered for admission in that round. However, if you fail to meet the cut-off criteria, you may be considered for admission in the subsequent rounds provided you meet the cut-off for that round. Or, else you will have to wait for the SPOT round, where seats will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Vacant seats after completion of the regular rounds will be offered in the SPOT round.

I belong to the SC category? Will I be considered for NIFT admission under open category?

Yes, candidates belonging to the SC, and other reserved categories will be considered for admission under both the respective and open categories. Considering you belong to the SC category, this means you will be considered for open and SC admission lists. If you meet the cut-off in any of these lists, you will get admission. But the institute you are being allocated will depend on the course you have selected (and their order of priority) at the time of choice-filling. Note that if you are not offered the first preferred seat, you are typically considered for upgradation in subsequent rounds.

What is NIFT 2026 opening and closing ranks of NIFT Bengaluru for open category?

The NIFT Bengaluru admission cut-offs are now available for Round I, II, and III. The cut-off has been released for all the 18 participating colleges. NIFT Cutoff 2026 - The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) releases cutoffs for all Seat Allotment Rounds for all the programmes and categories. There are three counselling rounds and one spot counselling for UG and PG programmes for NIFT Entrance Exam. Candidates who meet the NIFT cut-off for a particular round are offered admission. NIFT cut-offs are different for every campus.

Things you must know about NIFT 2026 cut-off

Candidates must keep the following points in mind.

The cutoff of NIFT 2026 Rounds will be released for UG and PG Programmes.
The cut-off for all the rounds will be released after the seat allotment is made.
The cut-off can be checked online at nift.ac.in/admission.
The cutoff would include the NIFT 2026 opening and closing common merit ranks.
The cut-offs will be released category-wise and for each of the participating NIFTs.
Candidates who meet the cut-off rank (or marks) for their chosen program and category only will be considered for admission.
If a candidate fails to meet the cut-off in a preceding round, then candidate will be considered for admission in the next seat allotment rounds.
If a candidate fails to meet the cut-off in the final round of allotment, they will not be admitted.
The cut-off would be prepared considering factors such as seat intake, total applicants, and the category under which admission is sought, among others. If any of the factors change, the cut-off will also change. For instance, if the seat intake is increased, cut-off would come down and vice versa.

Factors Affecting NIFT Cutoff

Cutoffs of NIFT 2026 will be prepared by considering the factors given below.

The seat intake for the program opted for admission

What is a good score in NIFT?

How good a NIFT score and Marks depend on several factors like program of study, seat intake, category you belong to, institute you have selected for admission, etc. For instance, NIFT cut-offs for Open category students will be higher than the cut-offs for Reserved category students.

For NIFT B.Des, General Category, 40 - 50 is the goodscore for Stage 1; for OBC, it will be around 30, and for SC/ST, it will be around 30. For NIFT B.F Tech: 95+ for General, 80 for OBC, 60 for SC/ST. The cutoff is expected to be lower this year based on students' reactions.

Cutoff for the General Category is expected to be around 30-80 for Stage 1 for B.Des. For EWS, it will be around 26 to 29, for OBC, it will be around 26 to 29 and for SC and ST, it is expected to be 22 and 19, respectively.

NIFT admission cutoff is not fixed and may change depending on factors like difficulty level of the NIFT Entrance exam, total applicants, merit ranks of these applicants, and seat intake.

You will be required to participate in the counseling process at your preferred institute. The university will assign you to a NIFT Institute based on your score, rank and preferences.
If you have not listed any college, you will not get a seat allocation in that college even if you meet the qualifying cutoff.

Q: Can I challenge the NIFT 2026 answer key?

Yes, the candidate is allowed to challenge the draft version of the NIFT 2026 answer key.

Objections cannot be filed against the final answer key. The answer key contains the official keys to all the questions asked in the exam.

Objections against the NIFT 2026 answer key have to filed online through the candidate portal. To file objections, the candidate had to pay a fee of INR 200 per objection.

Q: When can I download the NID DAT 2026 answer sheets?

The National Institite of Design (NID) will release the answer sheets of the candidate after the declaration of the FINAL results. Further, the answer sheets will only be available on request, only after the admission process is complete.

The answer sheet is not be issued during the admission process.

To request the answer sheet for the admission cycle 2026 the candidate has to make a payment of INR 1000 online/ per exam. The candidate will also have to furnish the NID DAT 2026 admit card duly signed by the invigilator and seal of the exam center with the request.

The answer sheet will be sent to the candidate within 15-20 days after receiving the payment.

The National Institute of Design will, however, not release any answer keys for the DAT Prelims exam.

You will not be offered any direct admission to NIFT Delhi even if you are a class 12th topper. Candidates must fill the NIFT Entrance Application and appear for the exam. If they clear the cutoff, admission is offered.

Q: Will NTA share information entered by candidates during NIFT application submission with 3rd party?

NTA/NIFT /Government of India can use the data provided by candidate for internal purpose(s) including training, research and development, analysis and other permissible purpose(s). However, this information will not be shared with any third party or private agency for any other use.

The NIFT exam includes two stages - The candidate first appears in the written exams, and if shortlisted has to next appear in a Situation Test/ Personal Interview (PI).

The final score for the B. Des programme will be prepared by considering the performance of the candidate in CAT, GAT and the Situation Test. In case of the B.FTech programme, the merit list will be prepared based on GAT scores.

Q: What is the NIFT closing rank for admission to NIFT Panchkula?

The cut-off for NIFT Panchkula is released category and programme-wise. So, candidates seeking admission to a particular programme need to consult the cut-off in their reserved or open category. For the year 2022, the opening CMR of Dom. OBC category for the Fashion communication was 6023; the closing CMR was 6414. The opening CMR for admission to the Fashion Design course was 5182, while the closing CMR was 5298. Meanwhile, for the M.Des programme, both the opening and closing CMR for the Dom. OBC category was 528. Note that CMR stands for common merit rank.

Also, note that candidates from reserved categories will be considered for admission under general category as well. Yes, the candidate is allowed to challenge the draft version of the NIFT 2026 answer key.

Objections cannot be filed against the final answer key. The answer key contains the official keys to all the questions asked in the exam.

Objections against the NIFT 2026 answer key have to filed online through the candidate portal. To file objections, the candidate had to pay a fee of INR 200 per objection.
