COMEDK 2025 Counselling: Why Placement matters the most?
With rising tuition fees and evolving job markets, students are becoming increasingly career-conscious. The fact that 45% of aspirants chose “placement statistics” as their top priority reveals a shift toward ROI-based decisions.
Students are seeking colleges that offer:
- Consistent placement records
- High average salary packages
- Strong industry tie-ups
- Internship opportunities and campus exposure
If you fall in this category, it’s crucial to study last year’s placement reports and average CTCs (Cost to Company) offered by top colleges.
The Pull of Location – Not Just About Home
The poll shows that 25% of aspirants are choosing colleges based on location. This choice can stem from:
- Many students prefer to stay close to their homes
- Staying close to metro cities for an internship with the best tech companies.
- Choice of better living and good surroundings.
COMEDK colleges in Bengaluru often offer a huge edge due to proximity to startup hubs and IT parks.
College Reputation vs. Dream Branch
When two or more students secure equal marks then tie-breaking rule is used. In the COMEDK tie-breaking rule are:
- Priority is given to the student with a higher percentile in Physics and Mathematics
- Second preference is given to the student with a higher percentile in Mathematics
- Even if the tie exists, a student with a higher percentile in Chemistry is preferred.
- Finally, the preference will be given to the age. The older candidate will be the priority.
Interestingly, college reputation (18%) edged out the dream branch (13%). While traditionally, students followed their passion or preferred branch, this year the numbers suggest:
- A practical tilt toward college brand value
- The belief that a reputed college can compensate for an offbeat branch through better peer groups and placements.
