IIT Delhi has postponed the entrance examination that was scheduled to be held on May 17, 2020. Read the details below.

JEE Advanced 2020 Postponed

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2020 has been postponed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi – the organising institute for the exam. The JEE advanced was scheduled to be conducted on May 17, 2020.

"JEE Advanced 2020, which was scheduled to be held on May 17, 2020 (Sunday), thus stands postponed and will be rescheduled after JEE (Main) 2020," as per the notification available on the official website of IIT Delhi.

JEE Main 2020 April examination has also been postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The JEE Advanced is the gateway for admission to Bachelor's, Integrated Master's or Bachelor's-Master's Dual Degree in Engineering, Science, or Architecture conducted by the 23 IITs.

According to the schedule released by IIT Delhi, the application form for JEE Advanced 2020 was likely to be available from May 1 and to be concluded on May 6, 2020.

The admit cards for JEE Advanced was expected to be released on May 12.

This year, the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in JEE Main exam will be eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced exam. The total number of candidates appearing for the exam may be higher than 2,50,000 due to any tied ranks/scores in any category.

With this announcement, JEE Advanced has also joined the long list of engineering entrance examinations that have been postponed due to the COVID-19 spread across the country. Earlier, the entrance examinations like JEE Main, KEAM, KCET, MHT CET, SRMJEEE, VITEEE, UPSEE, BITSAT, and many others have postponed their dates.

No, staying at the IIT Delhi hostel is not compulsory. Hostel accommodation is not offered to students staying within a 15km radius of the institute. There are 12 boys' hostels and 5 girls' hostels at the engineering institute.

Yes, air conditioning is available at IIT Delhi's new hostels. It is allotted based on availability. The institute charges INR 15,000 per semester for single occupancy and INR 7,500 for Double Occupancy.

As of now, IIT Delhi has released the placement data 2026 that is updated till Dec 2025. As per the report, a total of 1,275 offers including PPOs have been. More than 1,140 students have been placed during IIT Delhi placements 2026. The highest package 2026 has not been released yet.
