Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is one of the most premier engineering institutes in the country. Every year, the institute conducts a placement drive for its students. IIT Delhi Placement Report 2019
2019 can be considered as the best year for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in terms of placements as the institute recorded the highest number of placements in a decade. With over 1,000 job offers made in total (including PPOs), IIT Delhi has witnessed a 15% rise in the number of companies participating in campus recruitments. Information Technology (IT) department was on top for bagging maximum offers but core departments including electrical, chemical, civil and mechanical engineering also showed good growth by bagging over 34% of total offers. IT graduates alone grabbed over 22% of the total offers rolled out by the recruiters. The rest of the offers were in the fields of analytics, management, finance, consulting, research and teaching, and other departments.
As a new trend, many companies also lined up to hire students for roles in emerging areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, and predictive analysis.
As per the IIT Delhi policy, the institute will not disclose any high-value IIT Delhi placement packages offered to the students. According to notification available on the official website of the institute states, “It is felt that undue publicity to packages has the effect of devaluing national placements over international placements as well as core jobs over finance and consulting jobs.”

Facilities for Students in IIT Delhi Placements
IT Delhi placement season for students graduating in 2020 commenced in August 2019. The institute offers additional facilities and services in the form of training sessions and workshops to prepare students for the placement season. Some of the facilities conducted for students include:

IIT Delhi Placement Report 2018
At the end of the first phase of IIT Delhi placements, over 750 students have received job offers from the companies of their choice. With about 900 job offers made in total (including PPOs), this year IIT Delhi has witnessed a 22% rise in the number of selections. Also, about 20% rise has been witnessed in the number of companies participating in campus recruitments.

Branch-Wise IIT Delhi Placements (2018)
According to the official website of IIT Delhi, in 2018 there is a rise in the number of organizations registering to recruit students for core engineering profiles such as electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and chemical engineering. Also, as the industry gears up for industry 4.0, an exponential increase is expected in the number of organizations looking for hiring candidates in the sectors of data science, artificial intelligence, stochastic modelling, machine learning, and predictive analysis.

Sector Wise IIT Delhi Placements (2018 and 2017)
Till December 2018, about 34% of students have been placed in core (technical) profiles and 22% of students have been placed in the Information Technology (IT) sector. In IIT Delhi phase-I placement 2017, the percentage of offers made in core profiles and IT sector were 37% and 22%, respectively. For IIT Delhi phase-I placements 2018, over 350 companies registered on the training and placement portal of the institute offering jobs in about 550 different profiles. Over 150 companies are expected to participate in phase-II of IIT Delhi placements 2018.
For phase-I placements 2017, about 300 companies had registered to participate in campus placements of IIT Delhi. Of the registered companies, a total of 230 companies visited the campus in phase-I and recruited students for over 370 different job profiles.

In 2018 phase-I placements, 43 students have bagged international offers from countries like Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, the USA, and the European region. However, out of the selected candidates, 33 have accepted the offers.
In 2017 phase-I placements, about 35 students were selected for opportunities abroad in countries such as Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the USA.
