VITEEE Chemistry: Important Topics and Preparation Tips
Chemistry is the section where NCERT plays a major role. Based on previous VITEEE paper analysis, majority of questions from inorganic and organic chemistry were NCERT-based. So, here’s the final verdict -
- Inorganic chemistry - If you have completed s, p, d, and f block elements and co-ordination compounds from Chemistry, then you are safe.
- Organic chemistry - (class 12th syllabus has higher weightage). If you have studied named reactions and mechanisms from NCERT, then you are safe.
- Physical chemistry - atomic structure, Sommerfield’s extension, electronic configuration and quantum numbers, angular momentum (super important), shapes of orbitals, etc. If you have revised well in these topics, then you are safe. While the concepts from NCERT, the negative marking with time duration demands faster calculations.
Last 15 days revision tip: Avoid any reference book, revise what you’ve studied, and go through important formulas. Check: VITEEE formula sheet for Chemistry.
NCERT for VITEEE Physics - Important Topics
After Maths, Physics is the most challenging section. If you are thinking whether NCERT is enough for VIT Physics, then the answer is “not entirely”. Because, for Physics, NCERT can be an excellent source for fundamentals, but it can fall short in providing variety of numerical questions.
- For theory-based questions - VIT usually asks tricky questions from topics like Modern Physics and Semiconductor devices. For such topics, NCERT is perfect.
- Numerical-based questions - Topics like electrostatics, magnetism, and optics require you to solve formula-based questions quickly. In such cases, NCERT questions are descriptive and you need to work on attempting object-based questions.
- For more question variation, students can start solving questions papers of JEE Main and BITSAT question papers, as well.
Last 15 days VITEEE Preparation Tip: For theory-related questions refer to NCERT, but solve atleast 30 MCQs per chapter from a question bank or VITEEE PYQs to work on accuracy.

VITEEE Maths: Toughest, Trickiest, and Most Lengthy Section
Maths in VITEEE exam usually remains the toughest section out of three subjects. While the syllabus is based on class 11 and 12th curriculum, the difficulty level and length of the question exceeds NCERT level.
- Calculus and Algebra - VIT usually asks lengthy integration and complex 3D problems, so work on that. NCERT will teach you the method but it does not provide you short-cuts to attempt. So, attempt of accuracy is much needed to solve 40 questions within the allotted time.
- Other important topics - determinant properties, shortcut formulas for conic sections, and rapid integration techniques, etc.
Last 15 days preparation tip: Solve objective questions from RD sharma book. Solve VIT mock test, and learn important shortcut tricks for faster calculations. NCERT alone cannot help you finish Maths section on time.
