During VITEEE admission process, before paying confirmation or advance tuition fee, students must note the following-

VIT Fee Refund Policy of Tuition Fee as per UGC Guidelines 

Once a candidate clears VITEEE 2026 and participates in the counselling and secure a seat, they have to pay an advance fee to confirm their admission. The VIT advance fee is nothing but a partial amount of the tuition fee required to book your seat for allocated branch, course, and category. Once you have paid the advance fee, later they can pay the balance amount within given deadline.

However, if a candidate later chooses to withdraw their admission, they can do so but within the guidelines. VIT university aligns its VITEEE refund policy with the standard guidelines set by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

How is VIT Tuition Fee Refunded?

The percentage of the VITEEE course fee refunded depends entirely on when they formally submit their withdrawal request relative to the formally notified last date of admission. Candidates can check the instructions for the VITEEE Tuition Fee Refund Policy below -

How to apply for VIT full fee refund: Withdrawal Process

Students must note that VIT do not accept withdrawals on call or any informal email. To apply for VITEEE tuition fee withdrawal or VIT admission cancellation/fee refund, students have to raise a withdrawal request VITEEE counselling portal or VTOP Login. The VIT refund amount will be calculated as pe UGC guidelines and the timeline (based on the withdrawal date).

How to Withdraw VIT Seat and Get Full Refund?

To apply for a VITEEE 2026 fee refund, candidates can follow the steps mentioned below -

• Go to VIT freshers portal and login using credentials

• Then search for withdrawal or fee refund option in the dashboard.

• Enter your bank details, such as account number, IFSC code, account holders name, and bank branch. Ensure that all details match the parent’s or students ban account.

• Submit the online withdrawal form. Keep a screenshot or PDF receipt of VIT fee cancellation confirmation.

• Once approved, the VIT refund fee amount will be credited directly to the source account within 15 to 30 working days.

• The VIT refund facility usually open after phase III counselling or after the completion of all VITEEE counselling rounds at VIT freshers portal. 

• The feshers portal for each campus is different. 

The VITEEE 2026-27 academic session is expected to start in the second or third week of July 2026 (across all campuses). The dates for orientation will be updated and informed to students on their registered email ID.

VIT Hostel Fee Refund Policy

Candidates can also request a VIT hostel fee refund. However, the criteria and instructions are different compared to the admission process, which can be checked below -

• If a student decides to leave the hostel facilities within 4 months of the academic session starting, then 10% of the hostel fee is deducted per month. The remaining balance is then refunded to the students bank account. 

Candidates can apply for the VIT hostel fee refund at the freshers portal itself. 

VITEEE Fee Refund Policy for Failed Eligibility Criteria

VIT is strict with their VITEEE eligibility and students are strictly scrutinised based on that. Hence, the following VIT refund policy is implemented for not meeting the eligibility criteria-

• If a student loses their seat due to failing to meet minimum class 12th PCM aggregate (which is 60%), along with 50% in Maths/Biology, a fee refund is processed, but only after deducting administrative fees. 

• Students are advised to keep their receipt along with confirmation page, application form copy, and other VITEEE registration details. 

Thus, it is advised to keep a close watch on VIT counselling portal and schedule. The refund facility usually starts after the completion of counselling. If you want to withdraw, then do it at least 15 days before deadline. VIT classes usually commence in the last week of July, so make sure to complete them as per the fee refund timeline for VITEEE.
