VITEEE Exam Pattern 2026 (Revised): Vellore Institute of Technology has released VITEEE 2026 exam pattern on its official website- viteee.vit.ac.in. According to the new changes in the paper pattern, the authorities have included negative marking.

As per the VITEEE 2026 marking scheme, students will now be awarded 4 marks for the correct answers, and -1 will be deducted for incorrect responses. Now, candidates must be more cautious while attempting questions. In addition, candidates must check VITEEE exam syllabus before attempting any questions. Overall, the VIT exam is a computer-based test conducted to offer BTech admission to any of the VIT campuses - Vellore/Chennai/AP/Bhopal. Students will be given 2 hours and 30 minutes to attempt 125 questions from mathematics, physics, chemistry, aptitude, and English.

Yes, Vellore Institute of Technology conducts the exam online for MPCEA and BPCEA streams. The test duration of CBT is 2 hours and 30 minutes, and is held at various test cities acrosss India and abroad.

VITEEE 2026 Marking Scheme (Revised)

The Vellore Institute of Technology has revised VITEEE 2026 marking scheme. VITEEE application form with brochure is now available. According to new changes in VITEEE exam:

  • -1 mark will now be deducted for an incorrect response.
  • 4 marks will be given for each correct answer.
  • Each question in VITEEE will have four options, out of which one will be correct. 
  • Candidates will have to attempt questions within stipulated time (2 hours and 30 minutes).

NOTE: To understand marking scheme more closely, the institute will release VITEEE BTech mock test in March (expected), so that students will be familiar with the paper pattern and question type asked in exam.

As per last year's analysis, VITEEE question paper difficulty ranges from easy to moderate. It can vary for each section (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biology/English/Aptitude). However, compared to JEE Main, the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination is considered easier.

Q:   Is there negative marking in VITEEE?
A: 

Yes, VIT has introduced negative marking scheme in VITEEE 2026-27 admissions. Now, students will get -1 mark for every wrong attempt. However, for each correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded.

Q:   How many times is VITEEE conducted in a year?
A: 

VITEEE or Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination is conducted once in a year. The computer-based test is done on multiple dates. The VIT BTech entrance exam is held online only. VITEEE exam question paper is divided into five sections: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude. Questions will be asked in English language with four options, out of which only one will be the correct answer.

VITEEE 2026 is divided into two types of exams - MPCEA and BPCEA. The candidates will have to attempt their preferred paper as per the subjects they have studied or the course they are applying for.

  • MPCEA - Candidates appearing in MPCEA (Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/ English / Aptitude) in VITEEE are eligible for all the B.Tech. Degree programmes
  • BPCEA - Candidates appearing in BPCEA in VITEEE (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/ English/ Aptitude) are eligible only for B.Tech. Bio-stream Degree programmes

No, physical and virtual calculators are not allowed in VITEEE. Students have to attempt all questions manually. They will be provided rough sheets to do calculation.

No, the unattempted questions in the VITEEE paper will not be marked negatively. These questions will not be considered when the papers are being scored. Students are encouraged to attempt all questions in the exam since wrong answers are not negatively marked.

Not entirely, the core topics remain the same. VITEEE has 10 aptitude questions, and English has 5 questions. The physics, chemistry and maths questions are mostly formula-based and less tricky than JEE Main.
