Test II is for candidates applying for higher degree programs except those applying for an M.E. in environmental engineering and an M.E. in software systems. The test is conducted to examine students' knowledge in his/her discipline. The test takes place for 105 minutes and comprises 70 questions.

BITS Higher Degree Test 2026: Total Marks and Marking Scheme

As per the officials, the BITS HD exam and marking scheme, there is negative marking for incorrect responses. Candidates can refer to question structure and exam pattern mentioned below-

  • Questions are available in MCQ format
  • Each correct response carries three marks.
  • 1 mark is deducted for one incorrect answer
  • No marks are deducted for questions not attempted. 
  • The question paper is available only in English.

Yes, it is possible to crack BITS HD exam in 3 months, if your concepts are clear and good foundational knowledge. If you have appeared or preparing for GATE, then 70% of preparation is already completed. Also, attempt mock test and PYQs to improve time management and accuracy to attempt questions.
