KEAM is the Kerala Engineering entrance examination for those candidates who wish to pursue UG engineering courses from the prestigious private and government colleges of Kerala. Yes, a student apply for KEAM if they satisfy the eligibility condition:

  • The appearing candidates should be an Indian citizen.
  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) are also eligible to apply but they are not entitled to claim any reservation.

The candidates who are not Kerala origin and even their parents also dont have any residence proof of Kerala, but satisfying the following candidates:

  • Passed their qualifying examination from Kerala and Parents are posted in Kerala and employee of defense or central government.
  • The candidates whose parents are serving/served Kerala Government for a period of 2 years and appearing/appeared qualifying examination from Kerala will come in this category and eligible for applying.
  • In case, if the candidate is not the permanent resident of Kerala but spent 5 years of his/her study in Kerala then he/she is also eligible.
  • Those who do not have domicile certificate of Kerala but completed/pursuing their 8th to 12th studies from Kerala are also eligible for KEAM.

Q:   What is the age limit to appear for KEAM for engineering?

Candidates should be at least 17 years of age as of December 31 in the current year of admission. There is no upper age limit to apply for KEAM.

Q:   What education qualification is required to apply for KEAM?
A: 

The educational qualification for KEAM will be different for various engineering programmes offered. However, the minimum eligibility criteria is that a candidate should have passed Class 12 with Science subjects. Qualification for engineering courses: Candidates are eligible to apply for programmes such as B.Tech (Ag. Engineering. ). And B.Tech (Food engineering. ). And B.Tech (Dairy Science & Technology) if they fulfil the below-mentioned criteria: Must clear the HSC exam of Kerala or equivalent from a recognised board. Must have secured a minimum 50% marks in the subject of Mathematics, as well as 50% aggregate in Physics and Chemistry. However, candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognised as equivalent thereto, with 45% aggregate in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission under Management Quota in Private Self Financing Engineering Colleges/Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges. In case, a candidate has not studied Chemistry. The marks obtained in Computer Science shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science, the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry. Computer Science and Biotechnology, the marks obtained in Biology shall be considered The marks as shown in the mark list of the qualifying examination obtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for determining academic eligibility. Qualification for B.Tech (DSc & Tech): Candidates are eligible to apply under this category if they have: Passed HSC exam of Kerala or its equivalent with 50% marks in the subject of Mathematics or Biology. No, it will not be rejected. The photograph does not require bearing name and date of photo taken. Also, if they appear at the bottom of photograph, they will be also accepted. Thus candidates can upload either type of photograph.

Q:   I belong to General category. Is it required to submit Income certificate with the KEAM application form?
A: 

It is better to submit income certificate by all candidates except SC/ST. Those (including General Category) who wish to avail the benefits such as fee concession/scholarships that may be notified by the Government or college authorities subsequently, based on annual family income, should upload Income Certificate on the online KEAM application portal. The KEAM 2026 application form is made available online on the official website of KEAM at cee.kerala.gov.in. During KEAM registration, candidates have to enter the following details:

Name, Date of Birth and KEAM registered mobile number should be provided for getting the application number. Also, application number is uaually sent to the registered mobile while completing the KEAM Registration step.

Q:   How many KEAM forms should I submit if I wish to appear for Engineering as well as Medical and Architecture courses?
A: 

One candidate need submit only one KEAM application. The candidate can select Engineering, Architecture, Medical & Allied,  whichever course they wish to opt, in that one KEAM application itself. If you send more than one application, all the applications are likely to be rejected.

Q:   Can I rectify defects in my online KEAM application after submission?
A: 

Yes. During scrutiny of application, if there are any defects found in the application, such as photograph, signature,  certificate, etc. a Memo will be made available in the KEAM application portal, the date of which will be announced through Notification. Candidate can view the Memo by signing in to the candidate portal. Candidate must rectify the defects within the stipulated time published by CEE. 

Q:   I wish to apply for Agricultural course in Kerala, do I need to apply for KEAM with NEET marks?
A: 

Yes, In Kerala, allotment to all medical courses including Ayurveda, Homoeo, Agricultural, Fisheries, Unani, Veterinary,  Sidha etc. is based on the NEET (UG) rank. So, those candidates who wish to be considered for the allotment in Medical Courses should be qualified in NEET and are required to apply for KEAM.

Q:   Is it compulsory to do all the steps mentioned for KEAM application form in a single sitting?
A: 

No need to complete all the procedures of the KEAM application form in a single step. You can do each step in different time. But you should use the 'Save' button frequently to save the entered data and logout from the portal each time should be ensured.
