KEAM 2026 Eligibility - Nativity
Only Indian citizens are eligible for admission to Professional courses unless otherwise notified via the Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical Entrance Exam (KEAM). The Overseas Citizen of India Cardholder (including PIO cardholder) shall be eligible for admission only against any Non-Resident Indian seat or any supernumerary seat, provided that the OCI cardholder shall not be eligible for admission against any seat reserved exclusively for Indian citizens.

Candidates seeking admission to Professional courses will be categorised as follows:
Keralite: A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorised as a ‘Keralite’. Children of All India Service (AIS) officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to the Kerala cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’ as per G.O. (Rt) No. 822/08/H. Edn. dated 29/05/2008. But they will not be eligible for Communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservations or any fee concession.
Non-Keralite Category I (NK I): A candidate who is not of Kerala origin but fulfils any of the following conditions will be categorised as 'Non-Keralite Category I' (NK I).
- A candidate who has undergone a qualifying course in Kerala and is a son/daughter of non-Keralite parents belonging to the Government of India/Defence Service, posted to Kerala.
- A candidate who has undergone a qualifying course in Kerala and is a son/daughter of non-Keralite parents who are serving/served the Government of Kerala for a minimum period of two years.
- A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but has been a resident of Kerala State for five years within 12 (twelve) years of his/her study. d. A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but who has undergone his/her school studies in Kerala from standard VIII to XII.
Note: Non-Keralite Category I candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats for Engineering/Architecture/B. Pharm/Medical &Medical Allied courses. But they will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/Persons with Disabilities reservations or any fee concession.
Non-Keralite Category II (NK II): Candidates who do not come under ‘Keralite’ or 'Non-Keralite Category I' will be categorised as ‘Non-Keralite Category II'.
Certificates to Prove Nativity in KEAM 2026

KEAM Eligibility 2026 - Age
The age limit for various courses can be checked below:
- Applicants should be 17 years of age as of the 31st of December 2026. No relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed.
- There is no upper age limit for Engineering, Architecture, BPharm, BAMS, BSMS, BHMS and BUMS Courses.
- For MBBS and BDS courses, the upper age limit will be as per the Information Bulletin of NEET (UG) - 2026.
- For other Medical Allied courses, the age limit prescribed by the respective Central Councils will be applicable.

KEAM 2026 Eligibility for Engineering Courses
Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognised as equivalent thereto, with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry as one of the optional subjects, with at least 45% marks put together in the above subjects, are eligible for admission.
In case the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in Computer Science shall be considered. If the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science, the marks of Biotechnology are considered. In case the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology, the marks obtained in Biology shall be considered. The marks as shown in the mark list of the Board of Examination obtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for academic eligibility.
KEAM 2026 Eligibility for Architecture Courses
Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or Examinations recognised equivalent thereto with at least 50 % aggregate mark in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics or passed the 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate, are eligible.
Only those candidates who score the minimum eligibility marks as per the Information Brochure of National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2026 will be considered for admission to the BArch course. There is no relaxation in the minimum passing score of NATA for any category of candidate.

KEAM 2026 Eligibility for BPharm Courses
Candidates who have passed the 10+2 examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or Examinations equivalent thereto with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects individually are eligible.

Yes, you can apply. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for KEAM . Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders shall be treated at par with Indian citizens for the purpose of admission. However, PIO/OCI candidates will not be eligible to claim any relaxation meant for reserved category candidates. Indian citizens will further be classified as Keralites and Non-Keralites. However, candidates with non-Keralite nativity cannot claim any reservation of the state. Candidates have to complete all the steps to complete the KEAM application procedure. However, it is not compulsory to complete all the steps in one go. Candidates can do each step at a different time. But they should use the 'Save' button frequently to save the entered data.
To qualify in the KEAM Engineering Entrance Examination and thereby become eligible to get in the Engineering rank list, a candidate has to score a minimum of 10 marks each in Paper I and Paper II of the Engineering Entrance Examination. The candidates who do not score the minimum stipulated marks will not find a place in the rank list. Exemption: For SC/ST candidates there is no requirement of minimum marks in the Engineering Entrance Examination. However, the candidates who fail to answer at least one question in each paper will be disqualified. Also for the B.Pharma rank list, a candidate has to get a minimum of 10 marks out of the index of 480 calculated. The candidates who do not get the minimum stipulated index mark will not find a place in the rank list. Exemption: For SC/ST candidates there is no requirement of a minimum index mark for ranking for the B.Pharma course. However, the candidates who fail to answer at least one question in Paper-I of the Engineering Entrance Examination will be disqualified.
Candidates should be at least 17 years of age as of December 31 in the current year of admission. There is no upper age limit to apply for KEAM.
KEAM is the Kerala Engineering entrance examination for those candidates who wish to pursue UG engineering courses from the prestigious private and government colleges of Kerala. Yes, a student apply for KEAM if they satisfy the eligibility condition:
- The appearing candidates should be an Indian citizen.
- Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) are also eligible to apply but they are not entitled to claim any reservation.
The candidates who are not Kerala origin and even their parents also dont have any residence proof of Kerala, but satisfying the following candidates:
- Passed their qualifying examination from Kerala and Parents are posted in Kerala and employee of defense or central government.
- The candidates whose parents are serving/served Kerala Government for a period of 2 years and appearing/appeared qualifying examination from Kerala will come in this category and eligible for applying.
- In case, if the candidate is not the permanent resident of Kerala but spent 5 years of his/her study in Kerala then he/she is also eligible.
- Those who do not have domicile certificate of Kerala but completed/pursuing their 8th to 12th studies from Kerala are also eligible for KEAM.
The educational qualification for KEAM will be different for various engineering programmes offered. However, the minimum eligibility criteria is that a candidate should have passed Class 12 with Science subjects. Qualification for engineering courses: Candidates are eligible to apply for programmes such as B.Tech (Ag. Engineering. ). And B.Tech (Food engineering. ). And B.Tech (Dairy Science & Technology) if they fulfil the below-mentioned criteria: Must clear the HSC exam of Kerala or equivalent from a recognised board. Must have secured a minimum 50% marks in the subject of Mathematics, as well as 50% aggregate in Physics and Chemistry. However, candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognised as equivalent thereto, with 45% aggregate in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission under Management Quota in Private Self Financing Engineering Colleges/Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges. In case, a candidate has not studied Chemistry. The marks obtained in Computer Science shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science, the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry. Computer Science and Biotechnology, the marks obtained in Biology shall be considered The marks as shown in the mark list of the qualifying examination obtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for determining academic eligibility. Qualification for B.Tech (DSc & Tech): Candidates are eligible to apply under this category if they have: Passed HSC exam of Kerala or its equivalent with 50% marks in the subject of Mathematics or Biology. Secured an aggregate of 50% in Physics Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology. Such candidates will need to pursue a make-up course in Basic Mathematics (2+0) credits or Applied Biology (1+1) credit as the case may be.
